Yes I find that false neutral between 5th and 6th when shifting w/o the clutch.

Always when I'm sissy footing the shifter.

I hate to see the word "sissy" being used to describe shifting without the clutch lever. Some riders I know won't do it because it scares them; so I'd rather think of USING the lever as "sissy". Just my .02

Fifth to sixth is sometimes 'notchy' on my bike - but not as a norm. I was wondering if it was related to the oiling issue fixed on the first recall. Unless it gets worse, I won't worry about it.

Its just lazy shifting. No fix for it you just need to shift a little harder.

Ditto. I have had the same issue, and found the same solution. Bang 'er into 6th. I hate having to tell her something twice...

Adjusting the shifter down a little can help the situation- it gives your foot more purchase during shifts.

Quit shifting like a girl =)

I actually had a thread that mirrored this one pretty well, back in....may? We reached the same conclusion.

Lotsa people have found it, it's no big deal. Just shift like you left your purse at home :-D

I get them between 5 and 6 as well. Sometimes I'll get them all day, sometimes I wont get any on a ride. I had the dealer look at it and didn't find anything wrong or fixable.

I haven't had this happen on my 25r, used to happen a lot on my xb.

The solution for me was instead of using my toe to shift, slide my foot down an inch or so on the peg so I used more of the top of my foot instead of the top of my toe. That habit has transfered to the 25r, which is probably why I've yet to encounter this.
