I am considering buying a Buell 1125R? I am looking for input from people who own them? Please answer any or some of the questions to help with my decision?
How do you like it after owning it for a couple month? Do you still like it?
Have all the bugs been work out?
Does the exhaust make your right foot excessively hot?
Would you recommend it to someone else?
After really getting to know your bike, what are your likes and dislikes?

I bought the first 1125R in Colorado, #154, she has 13,699 miles.

1) YES
2) Mostly
3) No
4) without reservation, YES
5) Likes: riding, Dislikes: not riding

This is the best handling, most responsive bike I've ever owned.
I love my Loretta.

well XB Lights doesnt make a light for any other brand bike...so i'd stick with the Buell

2. Sorta, still waiting on the kickstand recall then I'm happy. 3rd flash made it the bike I thought I bought off the showroom.
3. Only on like 80+ degree days, haven't tried a hot day with my new jardine though to see if it's different.
4. Of course
5. Dislikes: The buttons on the LED display are hard to manipulate at times. Sometimes I hit my helmet on the fairing.
Likes: The perfect power delivery, no guessing with this bike. The brakes and handling are awesome and then posture is very bearable for long hauls. Plus its not gix or r1 like everyone else has.

you seem like you are already sold on the 1125, rollin_royce.

what kind of answers are you expecting to get on this forum?? you will be hard pressed to find someone in this neck of the badweb woods that dislikes their 1125 in even the least bit!!!!



nonetheless ill entertain your questions
1>i absolutely love it, and i wish that i could ride it more(so far im averaging only 2500 miles/month- wish i could put more on it)

2> the important bugs have been worked out(latest reflash is the winner) .. but there are a lot of dumb little things still( kickstand, and rear turn signals)

3>the bike's heat management(after the latest reflash) is manageable and about average for bikes in the 1125's power range and styling group.

4>I recommend buell BY FAR above any other bike brand. ducati, aprillia and triumph are about the only other bikes i would own. i will NEVER own a big 4 japaneese bike. the 1125 is truly the american made power-house and 2 wheeled rocket that its made out to be. it is the corvette Z-06 or challenger SRT-8 of the sport bike world.

5> likes: ergos, powerband, styling, and truth be told- im really digging its quietness after owning my old thunderbolt with a drummer on it! dislikes: i cant ride it in the winter- i live in Reno, NV and it snows here. also the interest rate from HD-financial is too high. i am going to refinance through my credit union this winter!

Get an 09 or plan on spending 700 for a race ecm. The fuelling is still a bit rough (even after all the reflashes) on the 2008 and MPG is well under 40mgg.

That said, it's a GREAT bike.

Does the exhaust make your right foot excessively hot? No but I don't ride when it's 100 degrees or even live where it gets above 90 very often.

Would you recommend it to someone else? YES no question.

After really getting to know your bike, what are your likes and dislikes? Even though the bike is liquid cooled the fans seem to always be on anyway. The stock Exhaust sounds pathetic for a V-twin and needs changing or hacking (which I did)

Likes - Gets about the best millage of any high performance sport bike 40+ at a steady cruise and mid to high 30's at spirited riding. My FZ1 only gets 30 at a spirited pace.

Bike feels light and and handles great as well as being surprisingly comfortable on a 300 mile rides. Logged 4000 miles in my first two months with not a single issue

From my experience (with my 08 1125R) I would have to disagree with this statement.

I'd say after the last reflash, fueling is pretty much spot on. It's not perfect and certainly could still use some refinement, but as good or better than any other production fuel injected bike I've ridden.

The EPA standards make it pretty difficult to get perfect fueling and still meet federal requirements.

I`ve had mine for 10 months / 6k miles and still believe that the 1125r is the best and the most bad ass.

My only real reservation before I bought mine was the more aggressive riding position. Due to some nerve damage in my neck, leaning forward and putting weight on my wrists and shoulders can be unbearable. So after 50mi, 100 and 200 mile rides I am very happy to say this bike is more than comfortable enough to be a real joy to ride and own!

Don't wait! Go out and take advantage of the AWESOME 2008 closeout deals. You won't regret it.

absolutly great bike. great power, great handling.
i was at a sportbike store lookin at gear while i was there i sat on all the bikes to compare them to the 1125r on feel and riding position. most are a lot more aggressive riding position, which after having the 1125r i think is unnecessary because the 1125r gets it done quite well. maybe a taller person could get some benefits from some of the other i4's because seat height it quite high. I havent felt any heat from the exhaust, granted i live in maine but it gets hot up here believe it or not. lol. would i recommend it to someone else, im like a riding recruiter. people never know what hit them. they start asking ? and they sure do get answers. havent let anyone drive it though. well my father drove it about 5 mph in a parking lot(then proceeds to advise me to be careful, its a really powerful bike.) but none of my recruits. Its good to by a bike that u dont need to dump money into it to get it where u want it. but its in our blood to tweek and get the most out of stuff.

I suspect you've sat on one.
Find a dealer that will let you test ride one w/ the latest flash.

Hang on for the most amazing ride of your life. It will grab you like nothing you've ever ridden.

Eric Buell got it right when he said, (I'm paraphrasing to get the thought across)This bike wasn't built to please the editor or other rice company executive. It is raw and made to be ridden hard.

Just corner it and feel the ease at which it responds and then give that right hand a twist and watch the front wheel come up with great ease and precise predictability and you have to get you one.

All your other question you have are talked about here extensively in this sight.

Rest assured that Buell is your partner and is doing and will do all that is necessary to ensure that your bike is all that you thought it would be the day you bought it.

Not to mention all the people that are developing the aftermarket at a break neck pace.

Unlike when you buy rice in a bag, this is a personal community that sticks up for each other giving all the support you'll ever want or need. Try that on an Asian import bike.


Read form the first unveiling until now and watch the speed at which Buell has eliminated the problems they had in the beginning.

That is why once you get one you'll stick with it. There is nothing out there to compare with the 1125R. My 2cents worth.

Best Buell I have ever owned.

Real nice in the power/torque department.

Wheelies like crazy.

Gets lots of looks and attention.

With all my recalls/updates on my 08, it is darn near a perfect motorcycle (but those really don't exist...)

Its not an R but a CR. I like the nakeds better. But I feel in love with the R first and then found the CR. i came from a Honda to this bike. There is no comparison. This bike feels so much more stronger, stable, and all around wow. I highly recomend one.

It's got plenty of torque everywhere you want it.

The latest ECM flash seemed to fix any fueling issues, works fine.

The heat has not been a problem on my right leg or foot, but not been out in weather warmer than 80 degrees.

Learned to love the radiator fairings, was a little put off at first, but after the test drive and looking over the bike, they have grown on me.

I rode a XB9S for five years, it too was a wonderful bike. That bike was a kick in the pants, this one is a mule's kick in the pants.

Its pretty much a big deal and thats putting it easy, Its scary how raw and powerful this bike really is, I still drool when my intake sucks up my buddys zx 1200 and blows it out the exhaust, THIS THING IS SICK and TWISTED, and what ever else you want to say but its un-looked JEM so it makes it that much better hope you get one.

Don't own an 1125 but work at a dealer so have plenty of experience with the motorcycle. I love my XB and would trade up to the 1125 if i could swing it. The latest flash took care of the running issue. i wish i could afford to trade up to the 1125r or 1125cr

Not being a hater, but I hear a lot of you saying how powerful the bike is. It makes 146 at the crank and most of the liter Jap bikes make 160 or so. Am I missing something?

No.

In my opinion anything over 120 HP is excessive when it comes to "street" use. The 1125 easily has more HP then that and creates (again, IMO) a perfect balance of HP, Torque, Handling and Weight.

It really is nice.

My first sportbike I've ever owned. Ridden lots of gxrs and cbr's and the like. Even rode a 999 duc. The 1125 IS the prrfect street bike in my opinion! Razor sharp handeling, stoppie breaks,and torque ou the rear, and guess what, it only stops at the rev limit! Try that on anything but a busa, and you'll b disopointed... This is the most awesomè V-twin. RC-51 was the sh*t for vtwins untill this. Buy one!!!! U won't regret it at all!! Its new, the model WILL only get better as it develops as the new models improve! Get one! Get it! U got the best, and keep our dollar HERE in America. Not to Japan, Italy, or any other!
