engine.

Anyone heard (or care) if the "real" water cooled Buell will enter into NHRA Pro Stock Bike, drag racing?

The current "Buell" engine is actually the heavily modified (waterless) V-Rod engine with a sorta Buellish nose fairing bolted to the front end.

hi mike, you must be new around here

the v rod engine and the 1125 engine have.... NOTHING in common mechanically. they came from completely different origins. they werent even designed in the same countries.

ill give you a cookie if you can research a little on here and come up with the correct answer to what country the vrod engine came from and where the 1125 engine came from

you have, however, given us the funny quote of the day.

"the current buell engine is actually a heavily modified v rod engine..."

..priceless

Pizza, he's talking about the current buell engine in the NHRA pro stock bike, not the 1125r.

But Mike you are wrong too, as the Buell pro stock engine isn't a waterless v-rod engine (whatever that is). The Buells use a S&S pro stock engine, 160 CI, push rod v-twin.

OMG am I the only sober one in the room? It's not that complicated.

"the current buell engine is actually a heavily modified v rod engine..."

Again, he's talking about the NHRA pro stock engine, not the one in the 1125r or any other street bike.

its an interesting place to put a non-1125 discussion

...the 1125 board

His question or discussion he was trying to get goin was regarding the possible use of the helicon engine (and 1125r fairing I assume) for pro stock NHRA competition instead of what they're using now.

Ho boy....thanks Badlionsfan, one person's awake !!!!

And here I thought you guys were on the ball!!!?

YES...the current BUELL powered bikes in NHRA drag racing ARE...V-rod engines.
I guess there are no drag racers here.

Maybe...never mind...!

Bott -

"Still Buell" based per the rules! NOT Harley based.
And there is more than one shop building them than S&S..!

And yea...they are water based engines that are NOW...air cooled.

HD drag bikes for years have used Buell for inspiration, the RS, S2 and S3 for sure before they went to a FLH-inpired fairing.

Somewhere I have a pic of a buddy launching a RS-bodied Harley drag bike. I'll post when I find it.

Well, one thing I think we can all agree on is that racing is good for the breed, any breed, and only good things can become of our beloved powerplant becoming involved with any type of racing. Even if they use them for motorized bathtubs or lawnmowers!

With the wide a$$ed powerband, these would make GREAT drag motors.

I ordered a Trojan Horse Steering Dampener today. Last week after taking it easy on her for longer than necessary I took it to the flattest longest stretch of highway in Houston I could find (290 to Austin could find and opened her up. At about 140 I got a pronounced front end wobble. Don't know about anyone else but I it wasn't expected. I enjoy speed more than most but that was a little unnerving! At the current exchange rate (1.28 to 1)it was finally reasonable. Has anyone installed a Bitubo Dampener yet?

Has anyone experienced a wobble at speed or is it just me?

Thanks to you guys I bought her.
Les

:Yup...but @ 120...that's why I'm still a pu$$ from going higher!

After researching with many here and on the outside, I believe it to be to chassis setup &/or head bearings.

Even if that solves the wobble...I'll still be fitting a dampner this winter.

I'd like to post a top speed of what this 11 will do @ redline, in top gear! LOL, with someone else as the pilot! mm

1125 bodywork wont be coming into the nhra
matt smith dropped tons on money on the pieces and they werent allowed by nhra and then buell said they never gave him permission.

and the vrod drag bikes and buell drag bikes are nothing alike, thats a dumb statement
