Anyone got any idea how I get hold of a standard map for a blank race ecu? The idea is to load up a standard map and turn off the subroutine for the third gear 5000 rpm WFO active solenoid confirmation from the TPS to avoid error codes - or can I do this for the standard ECU

when using the race ecm and a custom map, do u run the bike with out o2 sensors in OL. or do u which over to wide band o2's and run a constant choosen A/f in CL.

Jmr1283,

If you have a dyno, drill 2 holes, 1 in each exhaust header and put a lamda on it, to measure the AF for each cylinder.

You will see, that the bike run strong from 13.5 AF and more..

Try to play with a WOT run and change the AF from 14.7 to 12.5 and see the difference in HP

The 02 sensor would like to keep it lean at 14.7 AF. SO you don't need it.

Here is my topic about testing the 1125R:

Whats a lamda? and what do u use to fill the old 02 holes.

Well i just checked out ur dyno and prep artical(which ive done numerous times ) so i see the lamda is a wide band 02. what kind do u use(maybe the brand is lamda?). and does it connect to the same place the old o2s. i saw the test with the saron and it didnt have the holes or o2? Once u get a map of ur liking do take the o2's out and leave it in OL. Can u use a sniffer instead and just leave the a/f at a constant?

on another note.
Im not sure theres any dyno people around me capable of dealing with this type of fueling system. most if used are effecient in carbs. I guess i should check around.
This is my first injected bike, so im on a big learning curve rate now, i really appreciate ur help.

thanks
josh

Jmr1283,

If you can pull it off...by any means possible(!) try to get to Western Reserve HD/Buell on November 8th!

It will be worth it! Xb9 will be enlightening a lot of us!

Since these pics were taken, the new flash enabled complete removal of all heat insulation!...Enjoy, mm

umm Is the place of the stockers to close to the exhaust port? is it to hot. I would like to see 09's new location. I like performance over looks so if thats the best place for them so be it.
now for some more nosy stuff. i see the wires goin from the o2's to the air box then to the fast dual sensor air/fuel, so whats it doin in the air box. So the fast module is just so u can watch ur a/f? Can u program it and run in CL keepin the a/f at say 13.5..

oh sly i think traveling from maine to ohio on the 8th would be tough. work wouldnt be much of a problem but i think a ticket to fly in would be expensive this late. Plus I wouldnt know my way to the place. and hotel and taxis. sounds like $5-600. its to bad too, i dream about stuff like that.

SLy, wowo, nice system, just went to there website, did you guys tried to setup the Engine Control Unit (ECU), IS the solution you use only a AF reader or can you add fuel also?.

We tried the analog output way back in The Learning Thread...in archives...

The 11's ecu operations didn't like it very well.

Even if one could make the ecu happy with altered input, I don't believe that would solve all the targets. The theory is that the AFV function would then correct OL with too rich a condition. Its a catch 22.

This tool is just used now for supporting various mods as well as further understanding the AFV functions, both in CL & OL.

Its also handy to have for the dyno...its nice to have a second method of measurement to compare with CO% readings @ the tail pipe...which is the combined mixture of both cylinders.

After many tests and other's input, I'm pretty convinced that the limit to corrections be kept to 8-10% AFV while working with the stock ecu.

If we push above this, an injector change and/or increase in fuel pressure would be needed as injector duty cycle becomes a concern and another catch 22.

So with that, concerning the stock ecu, we are finding the happy mediums that still support good CL operations.

If needed in the future, I see an auxiliary injector driver w/two small injectors...coming on line in the higher regions. Completely divorced from the stock system.

Thanks to Xb9, Easyrider and others that are involved in all this fun!

What you guys are doing with the actual remapping is the best way!

I'm only attempting to stay within the EPA boundaries & stock controls...well, as much as possible!

SLY keep up the good work

I challenged the Benelux Buell organisation, to do a test of Emission, and I am confident that my fuel map gives a better result of CO then there fuel map with stock ECM. I hope I can get this working, because this would be a benefit for all the European drivers. It's not easy to get this from the ground but I keep on trying.

Jmr1283,

The harness going in and out of the airbox was just early install routing (20' of cables!). Since then, I've cut them down and rerouted within the main harnesses...outta sight.

Concerning a trip down...while fuel is still cheap-r...If you can at least get in the neighborhood, we'd be more than happy to help you around town!

Jmr1283,

I can't comment on Techno's stuff...I'm waiting on the other options being worked on now...

Best deal I could find for flights is around 500 beans...leaving Bangor`Cleveland.

You are out in the sticks, ain't ya?! I bet you got some nice roads up there just meant for the 11?!

If you can swing it, we'll pick you up at the port and haul you back...plus we can all go in on hotel to save some coin there! mm

Ive looked at the site some more and i see u need it at 20 inches from exhaust port. also cant be around the 6 oclock position.
I have to say ur knowledge and skill is impressive. very...

Not sure you guys understand how far above the curve this sight is. I advised my service manager to check it out. I'll walk in with live info, and he's at least 3 weeks behind if he even has a clue of whats going on or his mechanic is at school getting updated to what I had read 2 weeks earlier. Mancuso Crossroads, here in Houston is PRIMARILLY an HD dealership. They are having to play catch up w/ the 25R. And I'm concerned that in the 4th largest city in the US I'm goin to have to find other means of getting innovative.
In speaking with the sales manager, they are thinking about dumping the Buell brand all together to free up cash for used stock. Where there is real $ to be made. They are the largest dealer is south Texas with 12 08 R's left in the back. The only Cr to arrive was shipped to their down town location.

Thank a lot and keep it comin!!!
Les

"We tried the analog output way back in The Learning Thread...in archives...

The 11's ecu operations didn't like it very well."

I verified that statement on my own also.

I'm to the conclusion the best approach if you want to alter the stock ECU & mapping (for performance, not emissions) is to not use the O2 sensors. Bung plugs are cheap, and the ports work real nice to use for your wide band sensor. Force it to run open loop all the time, and kill the learning. That's what the racers do. The stock ECU throws a code for the O2 sensor systems eventually, but no other ill effects. No big deal, ignore it because you know why it's there. Closed loop is there for meeting emissions, nothing more. If you map it properly, it will run better than with the closed loop functioning anyway, even if you map that region at 14.7:1 Just check it once in a while with a wide band to make sure everything is still Kosher....kinda like the old days with carbs and reading plugs, just now we are using more modern and sophisticated hardware : )

$280 for a wideband controller and maybe $50 for a used Palm PDA is the best investment you can make for your bike, unless you are fortunate enough to have access to a dyno. You'll make more power with that investment than you will spending 3 times that much on an exhaust system that just makes more noise..

thanks xb9, Leaving it at a set value in OL, mean while making observations of a/f just in case. got it.
Im curious about one other thing too. huh did i say one thing!lol
What do i use to alter the stock ecm?

xb9- so the o2's position can be reused for the wide band's? its not to close to the exhaust port.

What do i use to alter the stock ecm?

Short answer: ECM Spy to program the eeprom and an Excel spreadsheet to figure out which HEX values to change..PM me for more info..

the o2's position can be reused for the wide band's?

The O2 port position on the '08 probably is not optimal, but it works. May shorten the life of the wide band O2 sensor as they recommend something around 16 inches from the exhaust port. The '09 position would be better.
