Waiting out a threatening lightening/rain cloud to start today. Yesterday, my first trackday went really well. Not the slowest, but then this my first track opportunity. Such a giant charge. By the end of the day I had a nice lean and much greater speed on the straights.

Learned about shifting up without the clutch, with it when going down. If I used the. Clutch upshifting the front came off the every time.

Went off course twice. No big deal here. It's all desert with no berriers.

Let the track owner ride it. He's a semi-pro. Likes it a lot. Asked about price.

Riders meeting. Gotta go.

Take it easy if you're going off course... maybe an early warning that you are pushing too hard... ask me how I know ; )

My last track session it rained in the afternoon. It was a great learning experience and you will be amazed at how much traction is still there in the wet.

Yesterday at the track I was the only Buell. I had 3 runs offs, 2 of which were my mistakes and 1 I was forced off the track as another rider swung wide on me. Stayed up all 3 times though!!

All in all a good learning experience and I know where/ what I need to work on at my next track day.

as someone that got comfortable with runoffs during what little dry season we have here i got my a$$ handed to me twice this year when i decided to run off turns with damp ground that i could have probably made and made at a quicker pace later in the day. running off is a LAST RESORT!!!! i'm lucky that i didn't have anyone behind me on the outside to take with me.

I just rode almost 200 miles today in the wet twisties with 5 other Buellers. We were more cautious in the turns. We became more confident as the day progressed. The wet isn't so bad.

Not enough to spoil our fun today.

Hmmm. How is it not different than riding behind cagers? I find neither any fun at all. If it is raining or the ground is wet, forget it.

Paint, where'd you go off? If I had to guess it would be: turn 13/14, turn 1, or between 3 and 6. We want all the torrid details... do tell.

I should note, it was not raining and the track was dry when I had my run offs...

Smoke,

Yupp, running off is the last resort! Better it happen at the track then out on the road somewhere.

RedBuell,

See my other thread "Track Day Fun and Learning" in the Quickboard...

So, I was right. I feel challenged at the turn in for both turns 13 and 1- there's too many lines to choose from. My favorites are 2 thru 6 and 9 thru 12... once you get it you find yourself grinning after nailing those sections.

I love 13 and 2-10. If I can get around someone going into 3, they will not catch me (except for the experts)! LOL

I am sure a lot of people are suprised at the thundering red, "slow" Buell that is rolling around the track...

I read a Buell described in a review somewhere as "the fastest slow bike" they had ever ridden...
