So the bike finally came in and I picked it up this morning.

The power is no surprise - I've ridden 1125's before.

Coolant temp never climbed above 177 degrees, battery never went below 13.9v. There's a bit of surging at low rpms (around 3000-3500), but that's to be expected on an engine like this and with so few miles.

The seating position actually feels less agressive than my Firebolt was, both in the pegs and bars.

Overall, I am IN love with this bike.

The bad - The headlights are bright, but like others, I find them aimed too low from the factory. I'll have to bring them up.

When I stopped after the first ride, I discovered that the oil dipstick hadn't been screwed in, and some oil splashed out on the muffler and on the engine. I had to take it back to dealer to have them top it off and clean it. The topped it off fine - they didn't really clean it that well, so I had to do it again myself.

The bike is hoot - I think it'll be a LONG time before I'm bored of this one, and I've only gone to 6000rpm!

once you get it broken in, let me know how fast you can go in first gear with the different ratio. I've had mine to 67 mph just below 10.5k rpm. It's good to know anyway, impress your friends!

Xl1200r, I have 100 miles on my new 08, I have the same light surging around 3000 rpm, it seems to come and go, and is most noticeable on my bike at lower speeds for longer periods of time ( 25-30 MPH zones ). My temps had not gotten much over 181F until today, today I hit about 4 miles of stop and go traffic (welcome to the DC), AT=71 CT=208, that was first time had seen anything over 181F.

How are you monitoring your AT and CLT? Some sort of scan tool?

The 1125 cluster has a AT and CT readout.

Did some more riding today.

Cscutt - I also only noticed the slight surging at low RPMs and am sure now it's just drivtrain lash.

I noticed that that I had a couple drops of gas come out of the end of the vent line (ehich exits at the bottom of the left passanger peg bracket on the '09s). Not sure what to do about that.

I also installed the heated grips (which are GREAT) and de-noided it. The grips only tax the charging system by .1 volts, btw.

I'm really starting to get used to the new-to-me gearing... this bike is a lot of fun. Can't wait to finish up break in.

Bad - the gearing is 8% taller, so the top speed in first should be around 62 - 63 mph.

this spread sheet from another thread is pretty cool.

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/397207.html

it shows that in first gear the top speed is 62 for the CR based on the gearing.

AWESOME! Glad it finally made it into your hands... I'm getting the bars converted in the next few days, probably some time this week.

The power coming from an XB is just silly, isn't it? I find myself giggling in my helmet!
