A few months back when we were all trying to figure out why our bikes were stumbling, we learned that the AFV needed to adjust themselves.

I noticed that my AFV values are 100/100 post re-flash. I assume that for optimum performance I should get out tomorrow and ride it in 3rd gear between 4-5K RPM for several miles to get the AFV values to adjust to optimum for my elevation.

I did ride 100 miles today post re-flash - but was ALWAYS between 3-4K RPM or between 5-7K RPM. After that ride - still at 100/100.

Of course, I live in Seattle and elevations range from 100'-500' (from sea level).

Thoughts?

And for the record, it is actually hard for me to believe that it will get better than what it is right now.

How are you checking your values? I had mine flashed on Saturday and I rode back home from Joplin, which is about 150 miles on the interstate. I have wondered how to check these values myself.

Hi Cory,

See this thread:

Just hit the MODE button to toggle through the various values. To exit diagnostic mode, just turn off the key.

Tim - near sea level, your AFVs should stay near 100/100.

With the old ECM firmware, Loretta ran best at 94.5/94.5, I'm at 5000'.
She won't stay there tho, last I checked it was 95/99.5.

She's in the shop now for a gang-bang: 5th gear recall, dribbling clutch cover, front exhaust cam replacement and ECM reflash.

Hope to have her back by my "weekend" on Thu-Fri.

Z

I'm running 94.5/94.5 at sea level before the second flash. Pardon my ignorance but what exactly is being measured? AFV = adjustable fuel value?

Also just noticed that my clutch cover is also leaking from the weep hole, what is the fix for that? what is leaking brake fluid or oil? couldn't figure out was was all over the garage floor where I park the bike, till I noticed the trail from the hole.

Thanks
-Eric

I finished my second tank after reflash tonight. AFVs are staying at 100/100. This makes sense as I live pretty close to sea level.

Oh... and I am digging on the fuel economy. First tank was babied a bit and I got 43 (had some bad weather to ride in over the weekend). This last tank I rode the bike reasonably aggressively - and still got 40. This includes maybe 25 miles between 80-95 MPH, fast acceleration entering the highway, a wheelie or 2...

I LOVE this bike!

Well done BMC!
