Stopped by Route 66 Harley/Buell this morning to show my wife the new bikes. I told her how much I liked the 1125r and her reply was "Where do I sit? The Ulysses has her spoiled with that long broad seat is hard to beat. I can't wait until the do an adventurer bike with the Helicon. Or something like the Duc ST4. | ||

If I am not mistaken, the firebolt touring pillon should also fit on the 1125r. That is where my wife sits. | ||

Roy, Passenger seating on the 1125 is marginal at best and can't compare to a Uly. I've got an XB12Ss & 1125r. My wife has no interest in riding on the 1125. | ||

Just to offer countering opinion- My wife actually prefers the back of my '04 Firebolt with the touring pillion to a host of other bikes that we've ridden together--including my '07 Ulysses. The seating position on the back of the Firebolt places her feet below her, so she can hang on with her legs and hold herself upright without clinging to me. The result is that she feels much more secure on the back of the bike than she does on bikes with a more relaxed seating position. She hasn't been on the back of an 1125R yet, but the passenger ergos appear to be identical. When you consider that the 1125R places the rear wheel farther behind the passenger, the 1125R may end up being an even better two-up sport bike than the Firebolt. | ||

My GF does not like the back of any bike much less the XB12R. The 1125r looked real similar in that respect. I do not think she liked the back of the S2T either but that was because I had the wrong seat on it. I am waiting for a 1125ST with all the bells and whistles of some other Sport Touring bikes out there. I have never been able to guess, with any success, what Buell will do next. They usually make the bike I want a year after I purchase something. Bought a 97 S1 and the 98 S1W came out. Bought a 2007 XB12R and the 2008 1125R came out. I did not buy a 1125R or 1125CR to give Buell a chance to make a Sport Touring bike that is not a Uly... Although I like the Uly a lot, the 1125 power, big hard bags, ABS, GPS, power ports, adjustable ride suspension and somewhat bigger fairing and long distance ergos would be great for one or two people. My wife likes riding on my R's rear seat as well -- say she likes being able to hold on while leaning forward, feels more secure. She doesn't like the idea at all of a more vertical seating setup (ala Uly or HD cruisers). Then again, she would really prefer to be on a Scg by herself so it's going to be a moot point anyways. Personally, I say make them learn to ride (take the safety class) for three reasons: 1. They will know one way or the other if they want one of their own. 2. They will understand what you are doing and why. 3. They can operate your bike in an emergency if you can't. F_skinner has the right idea IMO -- wait for the one you want (I want an full cafe racer type with a "low" suspension personally, call it the 1125CL). |
