I have noticed my Neutral Switch has been weeping a bit of oil for awhile now. (This is a threaded bolt-like connection on the left side of the bike under the belt tensioner). So I decide to check it out and see what the problem is. I saw a little bit of white gunk around the bolt, but didn't think much of it.

Then, I put a socket on the Neutral Switch bolt to see if it was loose. Sure enough it turned right real easy. Cool! A simple fix...it was just loose. Then, I gave it another turn...and another and again....why isn't this thing getting tighter!?

I think my neutral switch came from the factory completely stripped out!? The service manual clearly shows this is a threaded connection and gives a torque value, which is relatively low. Was that white gunk on the bolt some sort of thread sealer?

Has anybody else noticed this? I am afraid the next time I ride the bike, I may have a bit more of an oil weep.

Yeah mine is leaking. I posted a while back about it. As soon as my front brake line (front fender cutting through it) it is going in for nuetral switch leaking, front brake line chaffed, left rear turn signal out and paint peeling off the exhaust.

They are going to send the exhaust out for powder coating. Take your bike to your dealer, let them look at it quick and they will see it is leaking. Let them order the switch and bring it back when they have time to replace it while you wait.

Mine was leaking because it was cracked. It is plastic. I tried turning it and it just spun freely. When they took it out of the bike to replace it, it was cracked. I know that I did not crack it when I turned it because it turned freely when I tried to tighten it.

Oh really? I did not know it was plastic. That's why it was spinning freely, then. Did warranty replace yours? If its a cheap part, I'll just replace it myself and save the trip to the dealer...

Thanks guys. I got the part ordered today. Since its plastic, I'll put a little teflon tape on it and make sure I don't over tighten it.
