Got an '08 1125 last night. I tried to buy one last spring but there was a misunderstanding with HD on financing (which really p!ssed me off because I have bought 2 bikes with them already). So I went over to Yamaha and got a new FJR which is a great commuter bike.

Yesterday I was going into the HD dealer to get parts for my Sportster (Storz XR1200) when I saw this sign on the 1125R that said they were on sale. I jokingly said let's make a deal and a couple of hours later I'm riding out on a new 1125.

The timing is good because today I was going to buy an older Yamaha for trackdays and racing. So now I'm spending a lot of time on your list. I've read about the solenoid replacement, have the Buell part number and will order this morning. I also saw the info on the bodywork from Canada. Looks good.

BTW the first thing I did this morning was to call Montgomery Markel. He mentioned the Buell solenoid part, some the products he's working on, and the up coming '09 relash. Sounds like a great guy to have on our side. If you have any suggestions please let me know. I will be continuing my reseach on the list and Web.

Thank you,
Doug

Congratulations on your purchase last night. I bought mine last night as well with the intention of just getting oil for my wifes Sportster. Instead I traded it in. LOL

Swede, that's cool. Same congrats to you.

Today I had to return for new paperwork and had the scratched windscreen replaced at the same time. I was there almost 3 hours. Then I lost more time helping out a friend. By the time I got free to go for my first real ride on the mountain roads it was late afternoon. All I can say is WOW! This is nothing like a sportster. I do look forward to being able to open it up.

BTW I also picked up an oil filter and syn-oil for the first service. At the same time I ordered a service manual and the solenoid plug. Great bike and I'm determined to do as much maint as possible. Good luck

Sounds like you are well on your way.

A manual and Solenoid plug is my next step as well.

My first day of riding was commuting to work with rain. Not much opportunity to open her up.

Cool deal, got mine last Friday. Best bike I've had to date. Used to own a Firebolt and absolutely loved it.
Happy riding!

Fortunately I can ride again today, back to work tomorrow. I know rain's coming someday and wonder how the 1125 will be to ride in it. Motor seems tractable. Could be fun.

Swede, what did your wife do to you for selling her bike?

Be safe.
