Anyone got a sec to summarize the kickstand removal procedure? I glanced at it while test fitting my belly pan and didn't see an obvious way to remote it.

Thanks

Get the bike upright on a rear wheel stand or something.

Extend the kickstand out.
Use pliers, or better yet, vice grips to pull on the lower loop of the spring (attached to kickstand) out of the hole in the kickstand.

The c-shaped part on the other end of the spring is just sitting in a groove on the pivot pin for the kickstand. With no spring load, you can just unhook it.

Gently tap on the underside of the pin and pull it out from the top side.

That's it.

Oh, so that's how you do it....that works much better than the method I used originally...

Step 1: Find steep hill and stop bike at the top with the tail pointing downhill.

Step 2: Put kickstand down, pull in clutch and start rolling backwards downhill.

Step 3: Achieve speed of about 50mph and turn the bars hard to the left..lean into it for good effect.

Step 4: Pick up pieces of kickstand and put in back pack for ride home.

Seriously though, I never did that, but I can imagine someone winning a Darwin award trying...hope you all get a chuckle and this reminds me to order my service manual!!

two allen bolts to remove and the assembly comes off, spring and all. you have to take the rear allen bolt loose with the kickstand extended. easy.

No. I'll have to make the belly pan "quick-change" ; )

I saw the allen bolts, but I think that will remove what I was going to use as a mount for the belly pan. I'll try Doerman's method first, thanks.

Ben:

I know that. What I was trying to do was get Josh to admit that he was going racing ;+}, ;+}.

With everything he has going on and, the new responsibility due next month, I hadn't heard about the Andrews Racing Team starting up so soon.

Another question for those with a manual - what is the torque value for the two bolts for the kickstand mount?

Dorman, that didn't work, the pin for the kickstand doesn't have enough clearance to remove.

Thanks all!

initial belly pan pics in the racing section...

Sidestand to Motor: 34-38 ft/lb

Stop Bracket to motor: 84-96 in/lb

Shoot me an e-mail if you need a .pdf of the page.

That's the one. I used German torque specs (gudentite) to get me to work, but I'm using the sidestand-to-motor bolts and mounts for my bellypan so I guess I need to memorize it.

Thanks guys.

(my manual set should be here in a day or two)

Another torque spec request, just in case someone is bored. I think my manual won't arrive before Monday and I'd like to try the brake side of the belly pan over the weekend.

It looks like the right foot peg bracket is held on by 3 bolts. What is the torque spec for each? (I might get away with just the lowest/farthest forward bolt, but if not I'll have to pull them all)

What is the torque spec for the little torx-head engine bolts? I'll probably need to use one and maybe two for the brackets on that side.

Thanks,
Josh

The bugging is not a big problem but we DO need an update on the Buell baby!
