Hello fellow riders,

Has anyone here had their 1125r in for an extended stay at the shop?

I dropped mine off on the 3rd of July for the recall and there it still sits. After the recall kit was installed, the "Check Engine" light came on...after a few days of back and forth with Buell reps (week 1) a complete wiring harness was ordered and installed (week 2). that did not fix the problem, next they ordered a fuel sensor, that was installed today ending week #3, and still nothing. So they are doing the back and forth thing with Buell again.

Anyone else gone through this?

Thank god that the owner of the HD/B shop loaned me another 1125r, or I would be going insane.

R'h

were thinking that would be some like 2 day turnaround???

dang... i gotsta take mine in for the recall.... but im not going to let it get in the way of my riding season!!!

if the problem was more severe, i could see needing to take it in asap... but jeez man, its just the 5th gear recall!!!

save that till winter when you cant ride anyways!!! i am saving up some other warranty things and am going to take it to harley in like december.. they can fix all of the problems then PLUS give me free storage!

That's nothing! My bike was in the shop the first time for 14 days to find out that gas boiling, dripping on the exhaust, and the fuel smell was "normal". Total time in the shop to date about 5 or 6 weeks at this time. It needs to go back in but I think I will wait till fall.

What code is your bike setting? My bike sets p0193 fuel pressure code all the time. The dealer still can't find the problem.

And to think I complained when my recall install took a whole 3 HOURS, when I was told it would only take half that time.

You meet some interesting people at the dealership while waiting for service... a guy there (also a Canadian living in Texas) told me about all his exploits. So did another guy. We got to compare notes, and I realized that I am substantially under-sexed, but I get to see my kids much more often than they did... life is full of trade offs, and we need to be grateful for what we have (no matter how little of it we may get).

So, I agree, thank God your dealer got you a loaner!! : )

ya, i dropped mine off june 29th for them to do the clutch cover leak and the recall. i just picked it up 2days ago.(july 24th) after i got her home and looked her over (the dealership was closing as i picked her up) the detail job on the bike was absolutely pathetic! it honestly looked like a 8yr. old cleaned and detailed her! then i notice that when they took the clutch cover off, they must have taken that little breather think off, and their wrench took a nice chunk outta the powder coat just below it. i also noticed that the black plastic cap on the clutch cover has goudges in it from where they must have attempted to pry it off! is this normal?!?? on a scale of 1-10 my dealer is now a 2! (1 being the worst!)

Mine was in the shop (Destination HD, Fife, WA) for 3 weeks while they were doing the following service:
o New belt (snapped original; due, we think, to dirt/debris in sprocket from winter roads).
o New Metzler Z6 sport touring tires (rear due).
o New rear brake pads.
o Check out front brakes / triple tree to diagnose wheel shudder under braking (Fife didn't figure it out, but Destination HD, Puyallup, WA did).
o Troubleshooting the battery drain issue (they never did figure it out and claimed I was running too low RPMs).

Most of the delay was waiting for parts (tires / brake pads) and because (as the new service gal let on) my bike got bumped.

Rdmwc: I would say the chunk out of the powder coat and the nicks around the clutch cover is NOT acceptable.
Try the proper channels at the dealer (with a level head) first and if no resolution, escalate up the ladder all the way to Buell corporate if necessary.
