Hey guys i'm gonna be ridin my 11' to school this coming august and would really appreciate some ideas for really good back packs that i can ride to school with it on, then possibly carry my helmet in it, so i don't have to lug it around for 8 hours lol...and also has adequate space for all my folders and supplies for school..it would be VERY MUCH appreciated
Thanx : )

P.S.- I live in Arizona so waterproof is not that big of an issue, but if the pack is waterproof then even better lol...thanx again..

Was that you I saw in Prescott last weekend? An 1125 parked at the square?

Anyway... I use a backpack and just to let you know about at least one of the drawbacks...

It will make your back sweat. With the backpack on you can't get any airflow to your back at all.

Be sure to get one with wide straps and preferably one with "suspension" straps.

the one I have is made by High Sierra and I've been using it rain, snow and shine for about two years. The Buell sling bag I had prior to this one was great too.

I am riding with a No Drag back back from OGIO I love it. the only draw back to it is that you have to take it off to get inside.

It looks like they don't make quite the same model as before but I think this one seems to be the closest WRT features...

I use a Joe Rocket Blaster Back Pack i love it, holds my helmet and anything i want to bring. but when the helmet is in there you lose a lot of space but still can put some folders and thin books in there. and as for back sweating its not a real problem b/c the back has a raised backing that lets air through.

Ive seen this one, tank bag that doubles as a backpack. Also lets you carry your helmet without it taking up space in your bag

I used to use a backpack and switched to a tail bag. It also can be used as a back and it extends. The weight on your back gets old and without it is nice..

check out www.danscomp.com....its a bmx site but they sell an Alpinestars bag on there that I rock to school....I have a couple giant books, my laptop, folders, and all kinds of other crap. It holds a lot, and the big thing for me was having the chest strap (makes for a nicer ride with a backpack)....other than that check out Ogio, but theyre kinda expensive and I only paid 40 bucks for the A*s bag.

Don't know about which pack (I used a Northface) but wouldn't it be easier to find a way to lock your helmet to your bike?

+1 On the OGIO NO DRAG. It rocks. It's a little pricey, but worth it if you're going to use it. I also just bought the hydration pack for mine. Very nice.

I use a Blackhawk 3-Day Assault Pack.
It works great. The belt and sternum strap help distribute weight and keep the shoulder straps from digging in. And the grooved pad cushions the load but still allows airflow over your back. Also, it's military spec and built to survive a war zone. I used mine when I rode 800+miles, round trip, to March Badness.
The only draw back; I think a helmet would take up too much room in the main compartment and there's not enough room in the outer sections. But it has lots of straps and loops, so you could easily strap it on.

Edit: almost forgot, it is also set up to use a hydration system.

+1 I looked at all the helmet backbacks, and it is the only one I could fit an aerostich into (without a helmet).

I've had mine for 2 years now, still in great shape.
