Did anyone get to hear the exhaust on that 1125r at Homecoming??? I didn't think one of those could fit under a 25r. Not the lightest way to go ,but I sure would like to hear it.

To me the underseat exhausts have always been about form over function. That is one of the biggest complaints about the 848 and 109 is the heat from the exhaust slow roasting your buns. God knows we already have enough heat issues with the 11r.

Just an FYI a tailgunner exhaust is not an undertail exhaust. See below. There was someone who installed one on an 1125R, kinda of came out the side a little.

I heard him come in at low revs and it sounded pretty tame. The owners comment was that it really barked at full song. He put it on for the sound and it being trick, not for the performance.

I'd say it's gotta hurt lean angle, til I say the chicken strips on that rear tire.

He was RIGHT NEXT to us on the ride to the Factory!

It sounded definitely loud - and not at all like an 1125R. I hoped he'd pull next to us at intersetions on the ride so I could look at it, but he kept back a little.

We finally got a look-see and it does make me smile to remember my look at it. Really spins like crazy when he revs the motor. There were a good half dozen Buell engineers who came over to look when he revved it there in the parking lot.

It's loud - not killer - but definitely loud.

It is no better or worse for performance than carbon fiber heel guards - and gets LOTS of interest!!!

If I remember right I think that bike was in Georgia minus the exhaust?? I remember one with flames but I'm not positive.

That is into the lean angle BIG TIME. So, if you get one, get it for show or drag racing, but don't leave it on for agressive street riding!!!

From the looks of that chicken strip, the owner of that bike realizes that too.

All I can say is WHY

Same reason as carbon fiber heel guards and carbon fiber buckle protectors - except he's not pretending that his exhaust is a Performance part.

Heck, I even know people who POLISH XB components... really - I'm not making it up!!!

How does polishing something on an XB have a negative effect on the performance or rideablity of the bike? I have nothing against appearance mods at all as long as it doesn't take anything away from what the bike is supposed to do.

The sidetread area on the tire that hasn't been scrubbed from leaning the bike over.

Some folks determine your riding abilities based upon the width of that strip.

Some folks go to great lengths to remove any sign of that stip. Either by riding in ways they shouldn't on public roads, or even scrubbing the tires by hand.

My personal opinion = They mean nothing about a rider's ability unless your on the track.

Ben - my smart-assed comment kinda came out wrong. I was referring to things people do to their bikes ONLY for looks and having nothing to do with performance - like the graphite heel protectors.

The tailgunner - like the D&D - will restrict lean angle... definitely a bad thing - but evidently lean angle isn't always a primary concern for folks. Probably the same folks asking about engine mods before asking about suspension setup and tuning.

Usually the guys with the most bling on their bike, have the biggest chicken strips on their tires...

Yeah, I am not diggin the Tailgunner. Not from a lean angle/performance stand point or a visual standpoint but ya know, it's their bike, I hope they enjoy it. Seeing that pic kinda makes me feel a little better about the "ugly" pipe I just built for my 1125. Not permanent and it will hold me over until I get something a little more "production" styled on the bike.

Hey, I think anonymous was just providing advice. Me, I'm an ex-roadracer so I set up my bike for that style, but if someone wants to customize or drag race their bike, it makes no nevermind to me. Whatever makes them happy and keeps them riding instead of in some oversize SUV with 22's! It's all good! And, actually the dude might be brutally fast drag racing; I've had my butt handed to me in that venue enough to know I'm not good at it, despite my roadrace background.

Wonder what Micron could have done for the 1125? Shame they aren't making anymore bike systems. Looking at the pictures of their system for the xb's on here it could have easily been integrated with the full belly pan of the race kit and looked quite nice.

I'm sorry but i just had to ask "why" i cant understand the reasoning behind it.

this rider has purchased a high performance motorcycle and then seriously reduced it's capability by adding a novelty exhaust, if by chance the day comes when he needs that extra right hand lean angle that pipe will jack the rear wheel off the ground.

lets just hope it never happens for his sake.

Brett

To answer the question you can lean my bike over until the foot peg is 2 inches off the ground then yes the exhaust will hit.

I saw that thing at Homecoming. If it was light enough and didn't detract from the lean angle, I'd consider it!

At first it did not run good at all because all the free flow raised the power band. Now after building some baffles and packing the muffler it runs great. My dealer said they are going to dyno it for me so I guess that will tell the truth whenever I get to that. Bottom line is its 3 bolts on track day or whenever if I wanted to take it off.
