Greetings! I just got an 1125R and it's the bike I've been waiting for from Buell.Does anyone know if different front sprockets are available yet? I would like to drop down to a 25 or 26.

Brant- You just stumbled onto the one significant weakness of belt drives. No, there are no different front sprockets available, and if there were, you'd run into a problem with the belt length (no way to take a link out). If you REALLY want to change your bike's gearing, you'd better look into a chain conversion setup. Not sure if anyone's done one for an 1125R yet but it probably won't be long before someone does.

You are correct, however, the euro tube frame bikes had different sprockets and belts than the American bikes and I wonder if the same is true for the 1125? I dont know how much play is in the tensioner but surely it can compensate for one tooth off of the front.

Shoot an email to Grandstand Designs. They "solved" the tensioner with an eccentric cam-like tensioner for the chain - and that should translate to the belt.

I just don't know if there are any front sprockets with 1-tooth larger or rear with 2-teeth smaller.

IF you are lucky enough to find different pulleys, and the belt/swingarm geometry is changed and IF the belt tension varies much with suspension action, you will likely see more belt breakage.

Me, I'd personally give up top speed for acceleration since I actually USE acceleration on a daily basis but would never use a boost in top speed... but that's just me.

Like has been said above about the Euro-Tubers, they had taller gearing BUT the old style tuber belts were tensioned like chains - belt looseness adjusted by axle sliding in the swingarm.

Anybody go to a shop that does specialized bearing stuff like Motion Industries? They might have pullies that mate with the belt... just thinking out loud here.

They have a way to find locations near you.

You really ought to consider changing front AND rear pullies both - and then maybe either using something like Pete (Grandstand) has come up with to change belt tension - or else just go to chain... simpler in the long run if you're messing with changing ratios. What Pete at Grandstand Designs has done with the XB series should translate well to the 1125R. Doesn't change wheelbase either. Check with Al at American Sport Bike too.

I guess it is still too early in the fight to expect much in the way of parts. I can live with it the way it is. I would just like to drop one tooth off of the front to get the power down a little lower where I could use it better at Deals Gap and for hooligan stuff. The bike is blazing fast but I weigh 280 and it would work better for me if I could gear it down. I dont want to convert to chain, it aint that big of a deal for what I want to do. Thanks for the input.
