Joe: Let me get this straight... you are spending *more* money to acquire a motorcycle that (despite any amount of carbon fiber, tricked out suspension or whatever) is fundamentally *inferior* to the 1125R?

Man, that's generous. But there are far more worthy causes to support in Italy than Ducati. You could sponsor an impoverished child in Bologna, for example, starving at the foot of the Italian manufacturer... I mean, there's got to be a gypsy family or two in Bologna... one of those kids could be the next Rossi, for Heaven's sake...

Bon Journo...Wow! from american to italian!...hey im part european from NJ/NY area now living in california as a Buell specialist at Skip Fordyce HD/Buell and I have made a friend with bike nites ...Pete is his name has the DUC 1098S..with italian race pipes and slipper clutch and he still digs his 1125R he bought in Dec 2007 with a D&D racing pipe..(we all know how loud it is..but it gives it some power and edge). He loves the 1125R more because its a street bike that is more comfortable and with such a linear broad powerbrand..well racing testifies to this!..He might as well by a Jap rice cooker..GSXR we have in our store..2007 GSXR 750...traded for a Harley...lol...now thats funny!...but good luck..if you race thats great or frequent the track...or just want to look and feel italian...Go watch the sopranos...just my jersey 2 cents...but in the end its still 2 wheels...and not 4 he is buying and its a work of art and power...Love Italian style!)

Arivaderci...

Rob

Congrats on your bonus.

The 1098 is a great bike with lots of magic. The only downside I know of is no belt drive.

If the 2009 1125r is not redesigned I too have my eye on a yellow 1098.

??? If you got a "huge" bonus...why not own both ???

Not sure what huge is to you but, if your about to take the hickey, your about to get...then you should be able to have both. At least put about half down on the Duck.

It would be a true shame if they redesigned the 1125r.

Just read an article in the Rider Magazine that the 2007/2008 ducati 1098/1098S have been recalled due to the rear sprocket that can break.

Look into it.!!!

I test rode a 2008 duc 1098S and had a hard time getting over the hot seat from the exhaust. Also my left leg seems to get most of the heat from the engine. It had more mechanical vibration from the engine and the mirrors are blocked by my arms. I loved the brakes and the way it shifts, also the fuel and spark maps are right on. It was so smooth. Its a great bike but for the long haul I like my buell a little more. Before you switch to the Duc make sure you go on a good, long test ride.

I was looking at the KTM the Duc and the 1125R... After seeing the race results from Germany, and elsewhere I knew that the Buell was the way to be! At 4 grand less than a new 1098 and 5-6 grand less than the KTM, I was sold. These bikes handle better than anything out there, they come ready for the track, and they turn more heads than anything that i've ever ridden! I love the look on peoples faces when they find out its a Buell! It's always the same story, "There is no way a Buell is that fast!"

You're not suggesting that the 1125r was 'designed'} in the first place are you? LOL

hahah no it wouldnt!!! if they redesigned the 1125r after ONE year of production, the value of these bikes would skyrocket as they become collector items. 19 years later, you would be able to make money off of your bike after riding it and enjoying it from off the show room floor.

the reality is that there is no way they will drastically redesign or retire the 1125 in '09.

rare=valuable

you will become even more proud to own your 1125 if they only made 2000 of them!}

Wow! Selling already. I would just take some extra bonus $$$ and get a full fairing kit. Even with the issue's I've had with my 1125, I can't help but want to purchase another Buell. But this time the 12R. I love the sound, potato, potato, potato.. I just hope they don't discontinue the XB1200R anytime soon.
But it's not about the bike brand it's about the ride so I agree with Jpfive ride what makes you smile.
