I am new to the forum but drool over the 1125r all day! (don't have one (YET).
But I have heard a lot about the excessive heat generated by the exhaust causing multiple issues and malfunction. Would a simple pro ceramic coat cut down on the heat build up? Or is header wrap and heat shielding really the only way. I've heard theres not much room for wrapping esp on the back cyl.

FWIW I have not had any of those problems either. I did get one of American Sport Bike ceramic coated heat shields. Seems to work just fine. Compared to my ST1300, the 1125r is cool. I guess it just depends on your reference point.

American Sport Bike also has ceramic coated headers for the 1125.

You ordered the coated headers? Do you have any idea what is the process for removing the headers? I don't, but was very curious what it really required.

Yes the coated headers. Al also has the gaskets in stock but not up on the website yet. I know Sly mentioned a slight rotation of the engine to get the rear pipe off when he wrapped his. I will try and do some pictures with instructions. I am sure it will be trial and error on my part since there is no Service Manual yet. Though I have an appt. for my flash tomorrow so I believe I will ask to see if they have to procedure listed online and if they can print it out.

Headers will be here tomorrow. After I get back from the dealer for the flash and let the bike cool down I will putting it on the lift and tearing in.

They look great.I had ceramic coated inside and out on my m2 and about 5 minutes after shutting off the engine they were cool enough to touch, very amazing.But try it with a glove of course 1st time.LOL

Great set of tubes krassh! The install won't be that big of a deal though as they are stock od.

..fully wrapped, its the gain of a 1/4", which makes them difficult.

You shouldn't have any real drama in getting these on! Let us know how they go on all accounts.

WOuld ceramic coating in black defeat the purpose? THAT would look hot on the 11 for sure. I try to stay away from the chromed look myself.

I asked Al at American Sport Bike that very same question and the answer is that the black ceramic does radiate more heat. Black would look good on this bike but the chrome works much better.

I have had a number of headers Jet-Hot coated and have been very happy with the results. I had the expansion chamber for my 2 stroke Polaris four wheeled done and it cut down the heat to a tolerable level. The Micron pipes for the 12R are coated as well. The Mississippi location is about 5 minutes from work so it's easy for me to get things coated.
I also see the guys from J-H around town so I get a little discount too.

Finally got them installed. Had to wait till today for my neighbor to bring his welder home to make the special tool.
The special tool consists of a 10mm 1/4 drive socket welded to a piece of metal.

Had to take off or loosen the following:
Seats, Rear plastic, shock, right heel guard, rear brake master cylinder (behind heel guard), plastic piece above heel guard, Sprocket cover.

Basically remove both shock bolts so you can move it out of the way. The 2 top nuts you will need the "special tool" the bottom 2 you should be able to get off with a combination wrench. Oh and the reason for the heel guard, brake cylinder and almost forgot there is a plastic piece under the right hand side of the end of the frame. It is a wire run shield. The O2 sensor wire runs through it. You will have to pull the wire back from above if you did like me and use a box end wrench on it.

The O2 sensors need to be removed before the header is removed. Once the rear header has the O2 sensor removed and the 4 header nuts removed you will need to play with rotating the pipe to get it out. Takes some practice and patience.

I did not remove the exhaust.

The front header of course is a breeze.

I have not fired it up. Weather has been crap all weekend and want to take it for a decent ride so it is warmed up.

I am really happy for you on the install on the SWEET ceramic headers, I inquired about them from American Sport Bike got the figures and instructions, sound like a super deal. But, I have been starry-eyed over the GEICO bike race fairing since 1st posted and that would cover up the gorgeous coated headers, right? I love the naked look, but I also want the race fairing kit, I don't like covering money well spent for. Will you be ever interested in any fairing kit in the future, or naked forever (THE TRUE BUELL)? How bout a outside pic soon??

Should be worth having those headers even more with the fairing. As it should cut down on the heat which the full fairing will add too.

Well figure you are only going to see a small portion of the headers anyway so if this works really well I would seriously consider the full fairing.

The main reason I did this was the heat issue. If heat was not an issue I would have left then stock or gone black for looks.

It is actually a shame the nicest part of the headers are hidden in the frame.
