Finally took my 1125R on the track for a Motorcycle Lapping Day. A couple of notes and thoughts (in no particular order):

1. Front fairing offers great wind protection. I didn't notice its protection much on the street, but at 140 mph on the front straight all tucked in, it worked very well.

2. Trail Braking - I found I could brake longer and deeper into corners. Very nice and confidence inspiring.

3. Slipper action clutch. Never used one before. It was cool downshifting aggressively with no rear end worries.

4. The thing has impressive power. A friend of mine was on a Triumph Speed Triple 1050. He said I could pass him like he was standing still. Also, there was a Ducati 1098 out there that I could pass on the front straight. (Thought that was kinda cool.)

5. I thought my 12R handled well. The 1125R is way better. Its really easy to flick back and forth at the chicane.

6. Complaints - Hardly any. The bike is mechanically noisy when pushing it in the upper RPM's. But I think that can be masked with a good aftermarket exhaust. One other thing...I pulled the fuse for the headlights the night before so there wouldn't be a sticky mess on the headlights. Well, first session I went to start it and nothing! I was freaking out. The only thing I could think of was that fuse. I put it back in and the bike started. What is that some sorta safety item?? My other Buells were not like that.

All it all, a very good experience and it was nice hanging with the big liter bikes around the track.

That circuit also has a feed to the starter solenoid.

You can pull the fuse after it's started.
Just not before.

The 1125R bike is GREAT when ridden hard (and ridden well) - I'm jealous of you 1125R-owner-types.

When you posted about the fuse and trying to not melt the tape into a gooey residue - I kinda though I'd post up the following (if you don't already know it):

You MUST use the 3M Safe Release masking tape - and NOT use duct tape or any other tape that'll leave a gooey residue. It's available at all the "Home" stores - Lowes, Home Depot.

Saferelease Tape is the blue stuff you see on all those bikes that are ridden regularly on the track. You can survive a day or two in the sun and not curse life when you try to remove it!

Thanks Slaughter.

Yeah, I actually put the blue 3M painters tape on first, then black it out with black duct tape...ya know, for the coolness factor.

When it came time to take off the tape, it all came off easily with no sticky left. I guess pulling the light fuse really isn't necessary with the 3M blue tape.

Save yourself the heart attack. Don't bother pulling the fuse!

Way cool - can't argue with the LOOK of the black duct tape - good move to put the blue down first!

(pic looks like you had a KICKASS good day)

Which track did you go to?? I finally got a schedule for Harris Hill track here in San Marcos. www.elitetrackdays.com Now I don't have to drive three to five hours to do a track day anymore, granted i'm gonna do the Inside Pass in Decatur Tx. in Sept.

I can't wait to get on the track.

I was at Heartland Park Topeka, KS. It's a pretty fast 2.5 mile course. I go there at least once a year.

Off topic, but if you use normal duct tape and leave residue upon removal, just ball up the duct tape (sticky side out) and tap it on the residue. The sticky stuff will stick to the tape and leave the surface clean enough for a wipe down without a sticky mess....
