I rode my S3T out to the dealership for a test ride on the 1125 today. After signing my life away, leaving DNA and promising my next male grandchild, I was ready to ride. First impression is that the bike is tall, taller than my S3 and taller than my 68†body needs. Next the riding position is tucked, a little to tucked for my 64 year old body. Started the engine and boy does it sound odd. Not like anything I have heard before, certainly not like any Harley. First thing I noticed after getting on the road was it doesn’t run like any Harley or Buell I have ever ridden. It is a rocket ship on two wheels, pulling strong in any gear. Got on the Interstate and immediately noticed noise. The engine has a unique whine and highway speeds are at very high rpm’s. 70 miles per hour was almost 5,000 rpm in 5th gear. Passing a truck the speedometer quickly swept past 120 mph and the rocket ship was still pulling strong. Handling and breaking appeared similar to my Buell, and far exceeds my riding skills. Overall the bike is a sound, but expensive, sport bike and would be a great toy for curves and hills. But a geezerglide to replace my Road King is next on my shopping list. | ||

Even though I already own an 1125, I stopped in the dealership in Duluth. Wanted to go for a test ride to get the backpack, but as it was snowing, no go. So no backpack for me  They sold their first one last week, and still don't have a flippin oil filter for the bike!! | ||

I own a 2004 XB12S and absolutely love the bike with no desire to purchase anything else. Yesterday I went to the dealer just to get the hydration pack and as a result test road the 1125r. I am 5'9" tall and it fits perfectly, love the sound, great handling (nimbler than my xb), front brake works better than the XB, back brake was poor but think it need broken in, bike only had 11 miles on it. Power is awesome - smooth from 3,000 up. clutch worked great. Seat sucked. Oh my God, what an incredible bike overall. Now I want one! | ||

 Haven't had a road bike since the '70s saw the road test on (I think motor week) anyway went to the dealer gave him my license signed the waver gone, two days later got it,love it | ||

If I had the extra cash, I would have bought it on the spot thats how impressed I was with it. FAR exceeded my expectations! Rocky Mt. Harley/Buell (Denver, CO.) had 6 of them, sold 2 with 4 ready to go. | ||

Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't test ride one, I might like it too much  . Out of curiosity, how much is an 1125r on the road in U.S.? What else can you get for the same money? | ||

BWAHAHAHAH!!! hey WTF, i was at reno HD last week and asked for a 1125 test ride. half of the people said there was one there, but in reality, i had been sold the day before =[ i got the fancy hydration pack, but i didnt get my test ride!! what a bunch of CRAP!!! i did, however, get put on their 'waiting list' for the next time that a 1125 rolls in the door. im mostly worried that i will not have the self control not to just buy it then. im trying terribly hard to wait till next spring and get an '09 .... or maybe this fall on like a end of year sale... ahh tragedy!} | ||

Got to demo ride a 1125R today. Fantastic brakes, excellent handling, half way comfy position for a sport bike, fair vibrations, great seat, noisy as heck fan, HORRIBLE engine driveability under 3.5k, powerful engine, mirrors vibrate too much. (Message edited by destroy on May 24, 2008) | ||

I went for a test ride Sat morning, never ridden a Buell before. I assume that this unit did not have the ECU update as it stalled when the salesman started it, went to roll the throttle on as I let the clutch out but there was such lag that I stalled it. Was told to keep it above 4K around town and not to open it up till it got to 85C. It hunted as I tried to keep speed down. Was very surprised how rattly it was and not just the clutch. Very noisy clunk into all three lower gears. Once I got out of town it was heavenly fantastic power, phenomenal handling (although if you trail the brake into tight corners it initially wants to sit the bike up) I am keen but I will wait 6 months till these clunks and rattles are confirmed as "not a problem" or "we have new parts" Always ridden Jap bikes so am not used to a lot of these noises. Only want one as a race bike. | ||

They will add freight (~$300 and setup fee ~$300) In addition to that you will pay the local and state government a sales tax which varies anywhere from 0% to as much as 9%. So the "on the road price" or as we call it "out the door price" varies. Of course, as a customer it is your duty to talk the price down as well. If you compare the list price ($11,995) only, then: R1, GSXR1000, ZX10, CBR1000RR are about $500 less. Duc 848 $1000 more, 1098 $3000 more and the Aprilias are more as well. Generally speaking the 1125R is priced within walking around money of the IL4 liter bikes and much less that other liter class twins. | ||

I rode one last week in Wausau, WI as I was enroute from Sioux Falls, SD to Rhinelander, WI (498 miles one-way for work.) On my XB9SX. It was a decent ride, and there are things I like about the bike. Relaxed position for a sportbike being one. Get ready to flame, but realize I am on my third Buell with my CityX. I like Buells, but think the 1125R still needs some refinement. The way I feel about it is, they are probably trying to build a bike to market to EVERYONE who rides sportbikes, not just current Buell owners. As such, I don't expect a ton of GXR and CBR riders to jump on the bandwagon yet. Just my 2 cents. -roadrash1 |
