Glitch, the thread is still still "on topic"
well at least it has followed the evolution
of it.
As for the 1125R, I have not seen it since
at least a month ago
And doubt I will ever see it again

When I go to pick up my check(s) which I hope
will be soon, I will inquire about what is
being done with it.

Greg I missed that link, thanks that will prove to be handy.
P.S.
Those 5-spoke wheels you were talking about...
How much would you want for them?

HAHAHA... It just dawned on me that I haven't seen any unreliable, POS Buell 1125Rs anywhere that are in the condition of the fine Duc pictured above.....Hhhmmmmm......I wonder if there's anything to that.

I'm still riding my 1125R POS.

Just funnin ya Peter!

Peter:

You have hijacked your own thread. I like reading about your 996 too but............ "1789 miles, No further comment" was about your 1125r. I look at this thread for 1125r info, not anything else.

Why don't you take Glitch's suggestion and start something on the "Quick Board". I promise to keep reading about your 996.

Good point...
Well here is some on-topic news:

It turns out that my insurance documents got
lost in digital limbo for almost two weeks.
So one piece of advice:
Keep calling back (not too often, some patience is a good thing)
and make sure things are still moving.

So hopefully I will have my refund soon.

So how's the Ducati Del? Has it sang any songs to you at 10000 RPM?

Had lots of fun on mine today. The new engine has 200 miles now.And wheelies like no tomorrow

Greg,
She is absolutely fabulous...
I took her up to the canyons thursday and she is quite something...
Pirelli Diablos aren't going to cut it
as she would power slide out of corners
(as impressive as that may be, I would rather be firmly planted; ordered some Corsa III)
The sound is simply breathtaking!

Fuel efficient too!
Commuting in traffic gets me 32mpg
Canyon run was 38mpg
Can't wait to see what she gets on the highway

Right now in the process of replacing the fuel lines/filter
Along with fresh plugs

I am in love

Makes me eager to go anywhere

more to come later!

Still waiting on the refund
I should have it soon...

In the land of the 916:

Fuel filter/line change...

Good thing I got to fuel lines in time:

A little bit of cheating:

The clutch slave cylinder finally gave way:

It was absolutely filthy in there

Shame they do not make a non-pansy aftermarket slave cylinder (one that does not reduce clutch effort), so next best thing:

Too bad I did not take a before shot of this one, but here is after some cleaning:

As an added bonus a braided SS line:

I see that you got to the fuel line just in time, that short one in between the filter and the base is the one that always blows out.

All the funk that accumulates behind the clutch slave is from the chain being overlubed . Check out ca-cycleworks for a video on a lot of maintenance issues on Ducatis in general.

I installed a Yoyodyne slave on my ST2 and couldn't be happier.

Hope you are enjoying the bike!!

Indeed, that fuel line was so bad that is frayed as I pulled it off...

I use the chain wax stuff, so now its nice and clean back there.

Fortunately I was ready for clutch slave cylinder failure, so I was back on the road within an hour.

In the future, I may get the aftermarket cylinder...
The one I have my eye on is the one with a bearing support for the actuator rod.
The problem is that I would have to also buy the Brembo radial master cylinder to preserve the clutch feel and quick engagement.

This bike is simply glorious
especially in traffic.

The throttle response is instant and it has
plenty of grunt no matter where in the power band I am, just like the firebolt
The biggest difference is heat (there is none) and its so narrow!
I can squeeze through some impossibly tight openings to get to the front of a red light.

I have also realized that to keep her cool I need to keep the RPMs up, which I certainly don't mind

Still waiting to run out of gas to get highway mpg, or I could just fill up early...
I think it will be somewhere in the 40s

OK!
This is now officially F*CKED up!

Guess what I got in the mail today?!?!

A bill!

For what?

That lump of scrap metal they call the 1125R!

What the F*CK?!?!

Not only that there is now also a past due payment too!!

Isn't this fun?

Its been almost 50 days since I last saw that wretched thing!

What should I do?
Pay, which will probably delay the refund by another couple of months... yay!

Not pay, and risk my credit being affected

Someone is getting an angry call tomorrow...

I would like to apologize for the harsh post above...

I just want the 1125R out of my life completely...

I am especially frustrated about being held
responsible for payments towards a bike that is
really no longer mine...

Good luck with it. So BMC committed to refunding the purchase price of your 1125r? I know you went thru the whole story but I too lazy to reread the saga.

They did...

Here is a rehash of more recent events which have been buried in the Ducati stuff:

-Around March 5th dropped her off at the dealership for the final time

-March 10th mentioned "Lemon Law" to Buell customer service, they quickly reconsidered their decision for a refund

-Soon after I was told to terminate my insurance, such that expires by the 31st of March

-Sent in the last paperwork on the 31st of March (insurance termination)

-My paperwork (digital) was lost in their system until the April 6th

At the moment sitting here waiting for something to happen...

I call them every now and then, but no real news, they keep telling me a "few" more days...

Well I hate to say it but until the paperwork is ALL done, the job ain't! That is what you are finding out. Everyone that has a dog in this fight needs to know what is going on. If you inform the $ people, they might let you get by with just the interest.

So take a deep breath and make sure everyone is on the same page.

Now take your Duc for a ride to chill out.

I get to practice this every morning and evening during my 55 mile commute. I just have to make sure I don't get to relaxed and fall asleep ;+}.

Peter...I like you and all but....
I think you will find no experts on your mess in this forum. Lemon law proceedings are rare and if you need help, either go to a lawyer or to a state advocate for professional advice.

You started a set of proceedings that are rare for any of the following parties involved:
- insurance company
- finance company
- dealership you bought it form
- dealership you had it serviced at
- CA DMV

So it is incumbent on you to keep the different parties informed and to ensure that the paperwork process goes smoothly.

It is frustrating, but to call the 1125r a "lump of scrap metal" and lament it for your current woes is going too far.

I'd strongly advice seeking professional advice in your current situation. Every paper you have signed with the above entities are contracts and I believe you will find very few contract lawyers on here.

Thanks for the support guys!
I will call all involved parties and notify them about what is going on...
I am just curious what is taking Buell so long...?

Asbjorn,
The thing is that they agreed to give me a refund without getting into the lemon law...
And I agree with you entirely that calling the 1125R a "lump of scrap metal" was certainly uncalled for.
It was a fantastic machine, when it did what it was supposed to...
Sadly my perception of it has been tainted by this whole ordeal.

It also shoots the living hell out of a person's credibility.

The process, as I alluded to around the time of the first posting about getting a refund, is not an easy or pretty one. No bad players, just lots of legal stuff to wade through. It's all there in the contract, but it's like walking through a marsh in snowshoes.

Only one person can own the bike at a time and absent a "closing" as in real estate . . . it gets cumbersome.

The good news is that it's about 10,000X better and less painful (for the customer) than the Lemon Law. I've got some great Lemon Law stories.

Hopefully you can get through this quickly . . . . I may want your bike.

: )

Please take the bike, Court. You will love it!

The thing that has amazed me most about this interminable thread is the amount of work and aggravation that interex has happily assumed as a part of Ducati ownership that he would not tolerate with the 1125.

As an owner(and wrench) i'm constantly AMAZED at the levels of "work and aggrievation" people associate with Ducati ownership.

It just doesn't happen that way....But luckily, only a few of us KNOW that.No cookie cutters here.
