All I can say is WOW! I've never ridden a bike that was this easy to ride fast. The inline 4's, my former Aprilia, and all the Buells(of course). This bike is awesome! Seemless power all the way to redline, handles on rails and has an awesome front brake. Don't let the Rotax fool you. It's a Buell. The power delivery is so much like the other Buell's(smooth) it just never runs out of power. The first ride leader was not very fast but the second one D@#$!(every ride leader should be this good). Whoever that guy was, he rode that ULY faster than I've ever seen. He said afterwards that he raced 600 supersport for a few years and had most recently been racing supermotard (he's a big guy). We took off and got out in front of the group and had a blast. Thanks to whoever you were (if anyone knows this guy please post his name. He should be asked for at VIR). I hope to buy a 1125R as a track weapon someday. Unbelieveable. Way to go Buell for a great bike and a great track day. Bravo! BR.

Barber was great, I had a leader while on the 1125 I swear I could have lapped him on a blast.

Where were you pitted?? I was on the Uly in the A group and our caddy corner to the BUELL truck.

Anyway I rode Smokes 1125R at a nice pace and dipped into the low 40's with little effort, GREAT MACHINE!!!

New12r and I were out on the same demo session, and I'd have to agree. The pace was RIDICULOUSLY slow for Advanced group. I finally figured out that I just needed to drop to the back of the pack and not go WOT in the straights and let everyone get way ahead of me so I could carry some corner speed.

I have to say, I REALLY liked the engine. The bike would be a great track mule, but a bit small for me as a daily rider (admittedly I'm a freakin' sasquatch at 6'5"; ). It was more comfortable than my stock Gixxer 600, but I've made some changes to my 600 to accommodate my big frame. If they put the 1125r motor in the Ulysses and don't neuter it, I swear I'll sell my wife and child for one. LOL! : )

I absolutely LOVED the slipper clutch. I'd come down the hill fast in to turn 5 and just bang the downshift to second. Just dump the clutch, no need to blip or easy it out. Fantastic!! Same thing for catching the downshift going over the hump headed into the roller coaster.

Sadly, we didn't get a chance to really see what it could do, but hey, it was a demo ride and I understand liability and such. I'm just happy to have had the opportunity to ride one. The engine really is magnificent. It's got a bit of a buzz to it around 7000rpm or so (really wasn't looking at the tach), but that could have been due to the fact that the example I was riding was over 1000 miles past it's recommended service date as indicated by the tell tale computer on the dash.

Chad:

You will have to try my broke-in 25r with some of my mods. It is a LOT smoother all the through the rev range! Glad you enjoyed it, I'm really liking mine.

BTW: are you putting on any ERC classes soon? I need a refresher ;+}

Later

The site I teach at does about 1 ERC per month. You can go to:

www.learntoride.org

and look up the ERC schedule. I'm not scheduled to teach any this season, but the classes are out there.

I'd LOVE to ride your modded 1125r. Maybe we can rip the motor out and get a pair of screwdrivers, a shoe horn, and some duct tape and see if we can get it into my Ulysses. : )
