What does everyone use to clean the rear wheel? Only after 2000 miles, my wheel has already turned a slightly different color from the exhaust. After washing I tried different cleaners with no luck. | ||

Just washed my bike yesterday and got the wheels as clean as when new. Used PineSol and a softscrub sponge. | ||

try simple green. Good cleaner, noncorrosive, and biodegradable. | ||

CAUTION, CAUTION, CAUTION, CAUTION, CAUTION, CAUTION!!!!!!!! DO NOT USE SIMPLE GREEN!!! I have first hand experience where it has done BAAAAD things to powder coating!!! I used the S100 detailer spray today and it cleaned up my rear wheel with no issues. Neil S. | ||

Two completely different ways to get to the same place. Even with my ST I needed many, many farkels to make it just right for me. My first "need" is bar risers of some sort Heli/ Convertibars etc. Bags would be next. When you consider the 25r is 300#'s lighter and has an easy 35hp gain, it SCREAMS compared to the ST. I'm keeping the ST for 2 up riding. The 25r will be my commuting bike and single ST mode of rapid transit. Time will tell. Neil S. | ||

Been using simple green on everything including rear (powder coated) wheel with excellent results. Spray, wash and wipe dry. | ||

S100 has a wheel cleaner and it is better to be safe than sorry. thanks for the tip Neil I was going to use simple green. Mike | ||

I had a set of powder coated wheels and a friend had a set that Simple green streaked them and it would not come off after even many years. Granted powder coating resins have changed but, why take the chance when there are plenty of other cleaners that work just as well if not better. Oh yeah, if you stick with automotive designed cleaners you are usually better off. Just my $0.02 and obviously YRMV. Fore warned is fore armed. Time2Play Neil S. | ||

I have been using Johnson's Baby Shampoo just a few drops in a spray bottle. I have to apply twice but it works well. After all this buell is my baby and the wife has threatened that i sleep with it sometimes  | ||

I just used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and it works very well. I only did a small spot to make sure it didn't streak. It even cleaned a spot on the brake disc. | ||

Just throwing out my newb comment on cleaning vs. powder coating (since I do powder coating). Simple Green can damage powder coating, just as it can new paint etc.. if left on to dry, which even the bottle has warnings against, or used to. Although I don't have an 1125R (yet), let alone a Buell, I've owned several bikes, and some very nasty brake pads on the back of them (yes I use my rear brake). On my current ride, Busa, I only use warm to hot water to wash the entire bike, incl' wheels. On the rare occasion theres grease or other determined smudge build-up, I use joy or dawn dish soap. I would warn against the magic eraser. After extensive testing on wheels when I was powder coating them, it will end up dulling the finish, and if continued use, it may wear through the coating. Cat3 how do you rate powder coating holding up to everyday riding and changing tires, also does powder coating vary by the shop doing it, I have had powder coating before and the results were not as good as I thought it would. Mike | ||

Powder should not have any issue holding up to daily riding and normal use. Using a micro-abrasive like the Eraser is not considered "normal" use. Yes there is a profound difference in powders themselves, as well as where/who does them. Most issue resolve from poor prep work. Other than that, its either incompatible powder or improper baking/application/poor grounding. Most stock MC wheels, frames and such are coated from the factory. Wheels that are first polished or satin finish are easier to strip, where the rough texture wheels are a PITA. Hope this helps. Charlie | ||

Thanks Charlie I am not sure if I am having it done on the wheels, I am swapping wheels with my sons ulysses and might be the color I want, it will also make the ulysses look different having blue wheels, I will not be able to tell of I like the color into I get them on the bike, then if I do not like it I will either powder coat the wheels or buy the star dust silver wheels buell sells. I do not like the frame color and is a issue being powder coated because of it being a gas tank, the place I have had powder coating done in the past will not do gas tanks and I do not think they were real good powder coaters anyway. I do not like the blue frame color so I want to paint the bike but not to next winter, but might do what zack did tape everything and give it a spray can job of semi gloss black. Mike | ||

Mike, I tore my oven down a few months ago, or I'd experiment for you on the tank-frame. I am deploying to Iraq this Jul-Aug, so might have some time to build a new frame sized oven. If so, I'd have no issue PC'ing a tank-frame, I just takes a little purging to ensure you don't fireball your shop (< don't ask ). | ||

Hey Charlie I do not know if I will have the frame powder coated, have the frame Rhino liner coated, or paint it my self, Right now I would like to cover up the blue frame, next winter I think I will tear down the bike and paint the whole bike, only problem is making up my mind on what to paint, I can air brush and got to have skulls and that is as far as I know besides a grey that blends with black graphics.
