It does. It also provides opportunity. Perhaps there should be someplace where folks who write books could describe them. Dave and I have tried to be pretty quiet about our book so as not to cross the sponsor line.

I like knowing that Badwebbers are writing. I don't like seeing the same post in many different threads. That's when it begins to look like circumventing the rules.

How about a knowledge vault section titled:
Book Review, or Buellish Book Review (BBR), or BadWeatherBikers Book Review (BWBBR).

Each title could get a new thread, sort of our own little Amazon™ where we can approve and disapprove various titles.

Aftermarket performance books, riding technique books, motorcycle related fictional books (such as Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, probably more non-fiction than fiction though), and so on.

I'll go start a quick board thread on the subject. Could be a good discussion.

Zen and the Art... is almost wholly responsible for my getting into bikes 30+ years ago.
Great read, should re-visit that one.

So is it ok to post personal business links without being a sponsor?

The Policy seems to be unevenly enforced.

There is an applied/implied gray area at times, there is also a "links" section for non-sponsor links. I don't like zero-tolerance policies as a rule because they can lead to a walled city syndrome. But posting multiple notices about something generally gets the SPAM finger pointing at the poster, enthusiasm aside. Common sense and above board good faith intentions will generally guide one on a fair and proper path. There are deep ditches on both sides of the road for those seeking the boundaries however. YMMV.

"So is it ok to post personal business links without being a sponsor?"

No, except on the "Links" page, which is where I moved the opening post here.

"The Policy seems to be unevenly enforced."

If you notice what you believe to be an offending post, the thing to do is to let a custodian know about it. PM next time?

I think it was handled in a stellar fashion but I'm obviously, with a book coming out, not a fair judge.

With this many folks one has to use judgement.

Blake did and did a dandy job.

I think a book is a very different animal from the usual.
I don't think it should require a sponsorship.
It is information, although not free, that we should be made aware off.

Blake does an excellent job for us on this site - he deserves our thanks for keeping it here and together.

When Court gets his book out, I'm sure we will all want to know how to get one.
