Today, I looked at the local weather forecast, and it called for a high of 33F. Close enough! We'd had snow yesterday, but much of it had melted and the roads were relatively dry.

My 1125R has been stored at Uke's in Kenosha since I bought it on December 15! Every week since then, we have had a combination of extreme cold, heavy snow, and occasional freezing rain. Last week we had a glimpse of Spring when we finally got some rain to wash away all the Winter sludge, but the very next day we go 6-8 inches of very heavy, wet snow. I was really bummed.

This morning I decided it was time to call Uke's and my insurance company so I could get the bike home. Colin, my helpful Buell salesman, said he'd get the bike prepped for my arrival.

My wife and I drove up to Kenosha only to find the parking lot of Uke's filled with CARS for the Daytona Bike Week celebration & sale. When I started to get my gear on to ride, you could just see all the guys staring and thinking, "That crazy guy is actually going to ride a bike today!". I was loving it!!!

Once Colin had the bike all polished and prepped, we fired it up and took it out front. More stares from the Harley folks in the store. Now there were more smiles and people were probably wishing they were going to ride too. My favorite was the guys who came over right before I pulled away and said, "Man, you have Balls!". Too funny!

The actual ride was pretty enjoyable. I was taking it really easy because there was still a lot of snow on the edges of the road and the occasional patch of slush on the road. I managed to dodge most of the slimy stuff and remained remarkably comfortable for the 52 mile trip.

The bike sounds great to me. Nice and growly. The engine has a good amount of power down low, but it does come on strong past 3500 rpm. I look forward to actually doing some normal riding once the roads clear, but it felt GREAT to ride today and bring the bike home.

I washed off all the salt spray on the back half of the bike, and my neighbors came out to admire the bike. Now its safely stored in the garage with my STT waiting for better days.

Thanks for reading!

George }

Hey my bike is sitting up a Uke's too, how did Colin handle the delivery did you give much of a warning that you were gonna be picking up your bike? Just curious cause I am horrible at planning things in fact its entirely possible that I will wake up one day and want to just go get my bike. I mean I haven't had any issues with Colin in fact part of why I bought my bike from him was cause he at least seems to really believe in supporting Buell as opposed to the guy who sold me my Firebolt who just wanted to get me out of there so he could get back to selling Harley's.

Oh and congrats on taking delivery Saturday I was outside too so yes you definitely have balls. But then again I can understand why you took it home so early because I can't stop thinking about my bike I even have dreams were I am riding it ended up oversleeping one morning cause of it. Which is probably not a good thing could be considered unhealthy.

Well, I had planned to give Colin more notice, but I called him at 9AM on Saturday when I realized the roads were relatively dry. He said, "No Problem!" and had the bike polished and the battery charged up at 1PM for me. He was one of the main reasons I bought at Uke's too. I had also know Keith Ulicki for a long time, but Colin definitely earned his sale.

We'll have to meet up for a ride when the weather breaks.
