hey guys, a guy who works at the dealership I bought the bike from is bringing me 4 oil filters tomarow, they are in Maine and he has to go to Boston, so on his way there he is dropping them off with some coolent fluid to, so you guys should also be getting them soon also, I orderd them a week ago, was around 92 dollars for the four of them. I now will go to pep boys to get more oil, I changed it at 50 miles and did not like what came out, now I got 150 miles on the bike so I will change it again, then go 200 miles more and change it again, then go 400 miles and change it again, then at 1000 to 1500 miles I will bring it to the dealership for its first service, if they let me watch. I then will switch to lucas 20/50 syn racing oil at 2000 miles, and the break in is done and I can ride it hard. Pep boys sells this oil for seven dollars a qt, if you look for it, you have to look on the back, it says on the back that it is a racing oil and good for turbo charged motors and harley davidson bikes, but the front does not say it is for bikes, and at 7 a qt I will change my oil every 1000 miles, and filter every 2000 miles. Mike

Picked up my oil filter from Cowboys in Austin TX today. Looks just like the one I use to replace with O Ring in my 2005 Bombardier GTX Personal Watercraft Four Stoke.

I'll bring it to Bombardier dealer tomorrow and compare. They were only $12 dollars VS $24.00 with Tax.

I just checked parts manager for status. Oil Filter kits (Q1064.1am) ordered by High Cntry H-D/Buell in December when our first 1125r showed up are still on back order and their order status reflects a clearing date (when they leave supplier) of 15Jan2008.

I do not think this is right, but the guy that gave me the oil filters said that another year buell used the same ones, I personaly do not think so, but I am not buell expert. Mike

The parts guy at Paradice Harley in Beaverton Or. said he has 12 filters for 14 something each. I asked if he could hold a few for me, he said "I don't think you have to worry, you're the only one who has one that I know of."

WOOOOOHOOOOOO

I called SPOC today because our parts manager looked it up on H-D.Net Saturday and reported that it was not scheduled to clear back order until 15Jan. According to him, this reportedly means the supplier is planned to ship to the BMC warehouse on that date.

Since Court has been graciously fighting mis-information and availability on this item in this forum I thought I would follow up today to find out more.

Turns out our filters cleared today so we should see them within the week at High Country Harley-Davidson/Buell in Colorado.

Just out of curiosity, what is SPOC? I'd presume it has nothing to do with Star trec.

SPOC - yes, Buell has a droid who is the Commander at Information Central.

Actually . . . Harley-Davidson, like many large firms, employs a SPOC (Single Point of Contact) system.

The idea (and it fits nicely into the way I handle customer issues) is that you should never have to talk to more than ONE person. That person, in this case the "SPOC Rep" is the person you call. The become the owner of the problem and it's their job to find the information, resolve/answer the issue and get back to the dealer.

During the time I was at Buell we noted a lack of fluency and established a little thing called the Buell Dealer Hotline. While digging through stuff I found a case of the laminated cards we sent all dealer personnel.

I hired two folks, we set up in a small office in an old warehouse and some of the feats these two ladies pulled off were nothing short of amazing.

Joni Kells, still at Buell in the R&D area, used to get flowers from dealers. These two had marching orders to do "whatever it takes" and I'd handle the heat. They were amazing . . .absolutely amazing.

The SPOC folks that I've dealt with are generally very impressive as well.

There are a couple transient issues, like the oil level thing, getting the first load of filters in the right places at the right time and the initial shipment service manuals that accompany most new releases. The 1125R has had a couple glitches due to time of the year and the fact that there are few parts on the bike and far less on the motor that have ever been used before.

The feedback gained here is invaluable.

Thanks for your patience.

Court

P.S. - if you see me at Homecoming and want stories of some of the things Joni did . . . I can amaze you for hours. If you are in East Troy, be sure to introduce yourself to her.

I've got 14 miles till Loretta crosses the 1k line, so once it warms a little, I'm going to both High Country and Sun.
Hopefully somebody's got them, I need a fresh filter.
At least I rinsed the old one in solvent and blew it dry when I changed the oil.
Also have to see if the right mirror vibrates less than the left, after I added some foam to the shell.
Cross your fingers for me...

None at HC HD, but Sun has them. Good price too, 32 bucks, out the door, for two.

Check the K & N # KN-556. It's the longer filter for the Sea-Doo and Bombardier Rotax Engines
105mm long vs. 75mm long for the older Aprillia Rotax engines.
K&N has a photo on their website.
