Has anyone figured out where the blower like sound is coming from on their bike? (sounds like the 6-71 blower on my neighbors hot rod). I like it, just curious if anyone has figured it out. | ||

I wouldn't think so as it increases in frequency with the engine revs. Possible though.. | ||

Maybe its the GIANT throttle bodies sucking air? | ||

When the bike comes on it sounds like this sucking and whirling sound. I think it sounds cool. Even the fuel pump priming sounds mean. I like it. | ||

I think it's the cam shaft that's running on the gear from the adjacent cam. VFR's have this noise as well, except it's much louder on a VFR. | ||

I agree, the fuel pump and throttle bodies do sound pretty cool. Thats what it sounds like Jeff, couldn't remember where I had heard it before. Brings a smile to my face every time I start it  | ||

I would have to agree that it is that most of that sound (below 5000rpm) is due to the gear driven exhaust cam... (same as the RC51) While above that you have the intake noise + the gear whine... I am not sure if the chain driven cam contributes to that though... Because on the 4-valve Ducatis you get the belt whir which just sounds all too nice. | ||

I've never noticed the "belt" sounds.But,with both the Ducati OR 1125r the oversquare properties of the engine make them HOWL beginning about 6000 rpm and up over 10000.That's the sound i like most,sort of like a NASCAR engine at full song | ||

The belt sounds are subtle, and can only be heard under certain engine loads/rpms... And they are very easily blocked out by the glorious exhaust note. | ||

back in the day we used to change out the timing chain on our chevys and put gear sets in place of the chains for that 'blower' sound. It must be the geared exhaust cam. | ||

It's pretty lousy to the rest of us to title a thread "The beautiful sounds...." and not provide a little sound clip action for those of us who are not able to enjoy it yet.  | ||

It sounds mean...that is what my ricer friends said the night I got her home from the dealership. I can't wait until I have it broken in and experience the full spectrum of the exhaust note! | ||

If you're talking about the whirring at idle, my guess is the following 2 words: WATER. PUMP. I notice it on VRSC's too. The massive sucking sound that's accompanied by a falling barometer at WOT is the throttle bodies. I'm surprised it doesn't suck the top of the airbox cover in, LOL. |
