Anyone know if they are going to do a streetfighter version with the 1125?

The assumption is YES!

But Buell does not talk about future products, so nobody knows for sure.

What would you expect to replace the XB series? Makes sense that the Rotax would. XB's are in the 6th year of production. I can see a change in the next year or so.

Don't think they'll dump the XB any time soon.
You can pretty much count on a "naked" version of the 1125. But what do I know.

I would speculate that Buell will continue producing the XB series as long as can pass emissions regulations and show a profit.

A naked 1125? It's pretty naked now; not sure what they could do to "strip" it down further...

I would guess the Firebolt will be gone soon...

The Uly and the Lightning are to much fun to ride. I hope the make them for long time.

I agree that the 1125 can't (shouldn't) get much more naked (Gotta keep airflow going to those radiators). But I would like a more upright riding position with bigger front and rear seats.

I'm thinking we do a Photoshop contest to see how a naked 1125 would look. "Muppet eyes" headlights like the XB or a big single like the Tubers?

From what I hear, and the hints of "something big in the next year" that keep getting dropped from time to time, I got a feeling the XB, as we know it, isn't long for this world.

That would then leave only the Uly, Blast and 1125. I don't think so.
The XB can't be made into anything else other than it is right now, or it will cease to be the XB.
Don't plan on anything too radical anytime soon. Buell pretty much blew it's wad on the 1125. I also don't ever expect to see a Rotax in a Uly type bike. Then again, what do I know. I know one thing, and I bet Mr. Buell agrees........ the Blast has more than run it course. I believe if it wasn't for the Harley sponsored MSF class, that bike would be long gone!

Could they move the radiators to the front of the frame? Im thinking something like the Speed Triple type bike would be cool.

They'd replace the XB's with a Rotax type street fighter is what I meant. I thought the Blast was one of Buell's best sellers? No?

Well, they didn't immediately drop the XB12R when the 1125R was introduced, so there's no reason to think the XB12S will be dropped when they come out with an 1125S.

I think it's virtually certain we'll see an 1125S and an 1125X in the near future, and that Buell will probably have a full range of both air-cooled and water-cooled bikes.

Erik said that the air-cooled line was not being dropped any time soon.

I have reason to believe him over internet rumors.

Not too sure about the Blast numbers. I know the bike stays in production to feed Harley's need for MSF bikes more than a money maker for Buell.
You will not see the 1125X IMO. Will not fit in the existing frame and I'm pretty sure Buell has no desire to change that. Sure they could use the 1125R frame but I don't see it happening. But you never know. I don't think that motor in it's current configuration would lend itself to a "dual sport" bike. We shall see. Should be interesting, that's for sure!

What's "any time soon"?? When he said that the 1125 was just intro'd. That was last July. The way technology changes, "any time soon" could mean a year or two, which could make the XB obsolete by 09-10.

My hope is they offer both the air cooled HD motor and the Rotax.

XB's will be around for a long, long time. Sales are up on Firebolts since the 1125 launch. These are different motorcycles for different customers for heaven's sakes! We actually know sportbike customers, and aren't going to do what BMW did years ago when they brought out the water cooled K's and discontinued their air cooled! They gained water-cooled customers and lost all their air-cooled ones. It darned near killed them.

I have to agree with Anony here. Think about Dodge - lots of people *want* a Viper. Most of them "settle" for something like an SRT8 or the soon-to-be-released Challenger. I think we'll see a similar trickle-down process from the 1125r (big name, popular highly visible model) to the XB line ("I want something that says 'Buell' on it, but can't afford / handle / am afraid of the HP / my insurance company says no to the "big gun" 1125"). If anything, I expect XB sales to pick up.

Not only is the 1125 an awesome bike in its own right, but it's an "Image Leader" for the whole Buell product line.

People say "Ducati", what does just about everybody think of? Fast motorcycles. Now, when people say "Buell", you won't get a lot of blank stares. People (who don't own one) will know what a Buell is...finally!

I think that is a very smart move for BMC. I do like the air cooled XBs and Tubers but can really appreciate the 1125r. I am really excited about this bike and I am not even getting one....

BEGIN RANT: I am looking forward to the 1125r sales and XB sales going up. The local dealership doesn't get it and is already behind the power curve. I asked when they were getting the 1125r in last Thursday and they told me sometime in Spring!!! Most everyone that is buying one in this area has already went up North to Buell friendly dealers that understand Buells and more importantly the Buell riders. It is really sad because there is a market and potential in this area, sportbikes are BIG here. I am really hoping the 1125r sales go through the roof. I hope HD understands this is no longer a bike you buy and ride until you can "move up" to a Harley. Buells are the bikes you move up to when you get sick of underpowered, slow, heavy non-performing drag bikes (can anyone say V-Rod). END RANT

Rat, you hit it on the head. The 1125r is an "Image Leader".

I look forward to the day I can ride one. I dread the day I ride one.... I will miss the XB...

Frank - why miss the XB? Just make one more hole in the garage, about six feet long and three feet wide! It'll take up much less room than your homemade basket case S1W, which I'm sure is taking up quite a bit of room at this point, LOL!

I think a Cyclone style headlight would be badass. Gimmie a three inch rise on the bars, a little softer seat and maybe square up the rear end a bit to make a slightly better passenger accomodations... Buell could have a ZRX-esque hot rod to offer. Shweeeet.

Rat your right... It may happen. The S1W is not taking up that much space in the garage anymore but it is taking up some space in the basement. LOL (too damn cold here lately)... I forgot that my girl was not with me the last time I did a rebuild but she got over it soon. She did ask me a stupid question. "What are bike parts doing in the dish washer?" LOL. I am Lucky because she rides as well (2007 XLN). Frank

Would be nice to see the 9R make a comeback. I say that just because I think it's a worthy bike. But I would be rather miffed if I did not already have one (I like to buy sportbikes new and un-abused).

I thought the Blast was one of Buell's best sellers? No?

It used to be, it may still be for all I know.

But I doubt it's a big money maker, no matter how many are sold.

The Blast is a nice bike, but Buell doesn't seem particularly interested in it for whatever reason. There are a couple problems with it that would be easy to address, but I don't think anyone is going to bother. Using the 06 transmission so it wouldn't grind going into gear would be a nice touch as well. : )

The other issue with the Blast is, they forgot to put it in the '08 brochure! Whoooops.

I have a stack of '07 books that I keep just for Blast inquiries.

"Think about Dodge - lots of people *want* a Viper. Most of them "settle" for something like an SRT8 or the soon-to-be-released Challenger."

There's probably a 40+k differnece in price between a Challenger and a Viper. The price difference between an XBR and the 1125 is only 2k. Not that big of a difference for a 40+ hp upgrade. I could easily see the XBR being done or the 9 comes back and is made a lot cheaper. That's the only way I'd see the XB line staying, if it went down to about 8 grand.

Of course what's true info now maybe garbage by tomorrow if Harley decides to axe something...remember the much anticipated Buell dirt bike?

I found an interesting semi-credible post backing up the 1125X at advrider (yea, I know, this is the internet, yada, yada, yada). The author is an employee of Smokey Mountain HD/Buell who did a track day on an 1125R recently:

"The Buell people running the show told us that they're working on a big trailie (like the Ulysses) based on the 1125, but have no plans for a dedicated sport-tourer. "

I'm sure if they do build such a bike it'll either use the 1125R frame or a slightly altered version of it. After all, there's very little difference (no difference?) in the XB12X and XB12Ss frames. I'm sure they could work wonders with making that engine even torquier and more tractable than it already is if they weren't trying to make 146 horsepower with it too.

Complete thread here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29 1009

While I'm sure it's not unbiased, it's a nice review of the 1125R.

I got the impression (right or wrong) that Blast sales were artificially inflated because any Harley dealership that wished to give the "Rider's Edge" training program had to BUY a fleet of Blast models EVERY YEAR. The previous year's models would then be sold at bargain basement prices (with full warranty), but you'd be buying a bike that had been beaten on for a full year by people that didn't know how to ride...

I don't think they have to buy new ones every year (I don't even think they have to use Blasts.)

But regardless of that, a lot of Blast sales are to Riders Edge programs. I'm not sure I'd call that artificial, but it is something of note.
