For me, the most PERFECT ergonomics (as far as bar/saddle/footpeg) I've experienced on a street motorcycle was on my 2000 M2 Cyclone. The riding position was spot on PERFECT for long days in the saddle, commuting, sport riding and an occasional track day. My XB12Ss is CLOSE, but the higher footpegs get to be a bit much after awhile. Where in this picture is the 1125R? | ||

I went back and forth between the 1125r and Firebolt at the IMS. The clip-on placement is practically identical. The seat on the 1125r seemed to be a bit lower--I could touch down a bit more. This, along with the peg position which puts your hips in a more neutral position, made the reach seem more comfortable on the 1125r. Peg position on the 1125r is better than the Bolt--very close to my Lightning. Narrower engine lets the 1125r have a lower peg position without compromising lean angle. The unknown factor is the quiet zone cockpit on the 1125r. IMO, the downside of the Lightning ergos is wind protection. I HOPE that the wind protection makes up for the more agressive ergos on the 1125r--at least at speed. Rank (most comfortable first) 1) S 2) 1125r 3) R | ||

Hitting 130+ on the straight at Pocono and tucking in...yes, the Quiet Zone works. Tuck in, you hear intake and engine noise and a whisper of air. Poke an elbow out, turbulence. Tuck back in....peaceful. At least, as peaceful as 130 can be on someone else's bike at an unfamiliar track, LOL. +1 on the peg position, too. I ride tubers (S1W and S2 with "touring" peg mounts, 1" lower) and the riding position was immediately comfy for me and my 34" inseam. The XB-R feels cramped to me. The 1125 felt like home. The pegs are lower on the 1125 as noted above, and they keep lean angle by putting them closer to centerline (narrower). Lots of comfort but I didn't feel bowlegged riding it. The only thing I noticed with my size 13 street boots was my right heel (while that foot was ignoring the brake, the front did it all) kept brushing against the swingarm. Not keeping me from riding, but in a dip (suspension compression) I could feel the swingarm tap my heel. Again - large *street* boots. |
