Been hearing a buzz that the Dirt bike was a smoke screen camoflauge for the pairing of Buell and Rotax for the 1125R project. I am hoping that it is just an unfounded rumor. On the side note, a rotax powered 450 Dual Sport would have a nice niche market (forget about the MX series) Hoping that the 450 is just on the shelf and NOT off the list. Some body is going to be getting that money from me, I would like to see it be Buell. So Was the Dirt Bike just a Rope-a-Dope to draw attention away from a super secret sport bike project?

Absolutely untrue. The dirt bike was well along when it was shelved, and they were just about to start putting pictures and videos out, since the plan was to show the last phases of development to get excitement building and to build confidence seeing what it was going through for testing.

I hope that it do not sit on the shelf long enough to get dusty. My local dealer dropped the Buell line when the XB's came out, said that they did not like the direction that Buell was going. They believed that that series of bike is geared towards young, hard to insure and finance riders. I just stopped in there the other day to talk to one of the owners about Buell. I did the Mid Ohio Inside Pass and wanted to pass along the excitement that the 1125 brought me to the dealer. Through the conversation I found that the owner, also a dirt bike rider, may not be as closed minded as I thought to bringing Buell back. He said they did a lot of Buell business in the days of the Tubers and that they will be watching closely to where they go from here on out. I know it is tough competition out in the marketplace but I would love to see Buell move into the power sport market. Please

Rde48..... funny, but didnt the XB line attract the exact opposite of what the dealer "thought" it would? I think the 1125R WILL attract the younger generation, and the dealer/owner realizes now he's missing out on a big pot of gold by dropping the Buell Brand.

Who the hell cares what you existing Buell owners want or Harley Davidson. Snoop Dog and the gang are lookin for a new bike so thewy can pop a cap in your ass. 1125 looks right up their alley.

it is exactly like music, you know you are getting old when you yell turn that Cr@p down! Same thing with bikes, that thing looks fast, dangerous and uncomfortable, all the reasons I wont be riding one; which is all the reasons the younger crowd want one ;) Ride, Learn, Evolve, Keep the brand current & relevant. Nice job on the 1125R, just not my bike. Now a 450DS....That would have been in my garage as soon as the PDI was done. Still hoping to see one. Suzuki seems to do a nice bit of business with their DRZ400, Kawasaki with their KLR's over two decades of doing high numbers. Bring it back as a Dual sport.

Brian (Cityxslicker), I agree on the music, I still like the 60's,70's,80's music and shy away from the rap stuff in all respects, but I still remain a confirmed gearhead, even at my age, in that I really like the new "state of the art" bikes, cars and aircraft thats out and on the horizon. I would be buying a new Z06 'Vette but I cannot afford one, however I CAN afford a new 1125R and want to stay with Buell for various reasons. Still like some "old school" things also and will be keeping my M2 for that reason. My body still performs at a level where I really can enjoy the new bike, within reason of course, especially on the street. An old friend once said in a discussion we were having about horsepower "is there ever enough" and I agree completely but only as a "gearhead" It all has to be controlled with a judicious throttle foot, or hand. Now where's my leathers; its 40 out and I'm going for a ride. Bob
