My dealer is expecting their first three in about 3-4 weeks. He told me that if I put down a refundable $500 deposit, he'd lock me in on #2. The little angel on my right shoulder is whispering in my ear: "Don't do it yet. It's a version 1 product - there'll be bugs; Harley dealers suck. It's too tall for you. You'll shoot your eye out kid." The little devil on my left shoulder said "The deposit is refundable so tell the other angel to piss off." Easy decision at that point.  | ||

You picked the right critter to listen to, IMNSHO. I liked the words from Anony along the lines of "total failure capture" in the beginning. Sounds like BMC is giving early adopters a big security blanket, and they are obviously taking every possible precaution to avoid problems with the release. Z | ||

This bike is bound to have mechanical mishaps. Although it is technologically superior to the XB, its unproven track record has to count for something. The XBs as reliable as they are now had problems early on. I don't care what anyone says the higher the performance the higher the maintenance. I will wait for the 26th anniversary model. Just look at how much better the 08 XBs are with the number of improvements made to it since their introduction. | ||

My "analytical" self tells me this isn't a smart move and in fact, I had originally decided to wait at least one model year. But after reading everything I could find on the bike - and talking to my salesguy who spent two days at Cressan this past week, I've decided to throw caution to the wind. Having to take the bike in for repairs might be inconvenient but I have no doubt that BMC will take of me. | ||

Ill be keeping my 01 m2 to ride in case the R one must go in for service. Win-win for me, but there is just no way I can pass this bike up. Its everything I dreamt it would be. Hell, I live in Wisconsin and I dont care when I take delivery, even if it is cold and snowy. I might just have to take a trip south just to go riding when I get it. | ||

Yep it's going to be just horrible. (not) All the engine problems are going to be enormous. (unlikely) The new instrument panel will be problematic. (sarcasm) I can't wait for delivery. I'll keep the 06 Uly, the 06 Lighting SS and the blast for something to ride if the 1125R just falls apart. But with the chassis being derived from XB's. I think it will be just fine. Speaking of the 06 Uly, The first year for that bike has been very good to me. I've learned a lot from BadWeb. What to look for, what not to do and what mods to make. I would jump on that thing and ride to over the other ocean anytime. If I see any of you following me on the 1125, I'm going to stop and tell you "I told you So! " I'll let you drool on it though. Perspective; A little over 100 years ago the main daily transportation for most North Americans was a horse. I personally would have had a quick one. Fast forward to Nov. 2007 the projected delivery date of many new 1125R street bikes Mine included Should I be concerned about a 1st year totally new designed unproven motorcycle? Probably Will I be? Probably Do I really Care? No I just want one. I want one because it's a little different,it will be a little rare (at first)It is AMERICAN made.(Bonus) It should be a fairly quick, decent handling attractive motorcycle. It's a TWIN!! And furthermore I just really like my local dealer. Plus it will look great in the garage all winter waiting for the good weather so I can go ride it. | ||

i'll let y'all know how mine is going while i ride most of the winter!! i haven't been riding when the temp is below 37, but with heated grips and an aux plug bring on the electric suit. will pick it up in Atlanta and ride home to Louisiana. see ya on the road. tim | ||

and an aux plug Huh? Unless I've missed something, there's no stock accessory plug. But hey, I'd be tickled pink if someone could prove me wrong. | ||

Towjam - even if it doesn't have one, it's easy to add one of those little pigtails with the aux connector to the battery, like my Firebolt had. Vato Zone has them. I don't have an electric suit yet, but I'm really looking forward to the heated grips and the bigger, better fairing. Already planning a Thanksgiving/Birthday ride as soon as I get it out of the crate and put it together. Z | ||

No, looking at all the photos, it doesn't look like it has a Uly -cigarette lighter style socket, but the Firebolt had a pigtail for a battery minder, I was thinking of that. I thought electric suits and such used that smaller plug. Good thing we're Bad Weather Bikers here. I bet most of us who get an 1125 now will ride much if not most of the Winter. Z | ||

Oh I forgot to tell ya, I will ride just not the 1125, I live over in Spokane Wa. And before to long we will have snow and ice. Both these items make for difficult riding. Imagine it's a late Nov. day sunny and dry, you head out for a quick ride rounding one of your fav. corners and it's been in the shade all day and oops, ice! It's a bitch Thats why winter time is DR time. Pull out the trusty dual sport, after all its' used to falling. Getting cold here now but beautiful sunshine, just a little nipply when you are in the shade or just after sun goes down We shall be out this weekend forecast is low 50's for high low 30's for low but sunny. Our days for riding up here or over here however you look at a map are numbered no doubt. | ||

Out here in Colorado, they don't use salt. Sand and gravel don't make rust, but the gravel can hurt. Hooray for gear and heated grips. Yow, you get a lot of snow, eh? We don't usually get much of that, and it usually melts , at least off the roads, in a few days. Z | ||

Last two years have been very mild rode every month in 05 & 06 A few short years ago snow landed a week B4 thanksgiving and stayed until the end of Feb. Unusual cold winter that year really sucked for riding lots of ice that year. Went for two nice rides this past weekend Sat & Sun nice earl fall days. Got to ride while I can. Here in N.W. weather could change any day now | ||

Battery Tender pigtails are added by the better dealerships when setting the bikes up since the battery has to be connected anyway. Better to incentivize squids to use a Tender rather than start a bike and idle a while in the winter trying to charge the battery. I've heard it takes six miles riding to recharge what a start takes out of a big twin. At idle, alternator is barely putting out any juice, no air movement on a sitting idling bike, et al. Heated clothing adapters are co-axial leads (Gerbing, H-D at least) where as Tenders are a dual-pin & socket. I think there is an adapter from the Tender but a seperate routing more suited to the clothing makes more sense to me than where most hide the Tender harness. No, I did not see a cig-lighter on the 1125r, but early production, who knows. |
