I apologize if this has already been answered but can someone confirm if the tail lamp is LED-based or is it a conventional bulb?

Pretty sure it is the stock XB tail light.

But we have an LED conversion for it that kicks butt (but is also fairly pricey).

Make sure you can see them from the side...

I use an LED bulb like these in my S1W and my FLHP:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1157-20-LED-Lights- Red-2-Bulbs-Bright-Wide-View-Angle_W0QQcmdZViewIte mQQcategoryZ33713QQihZ005QQitemZ150178289704QQrdZ1 QQsspagenameZWDVW

Something most folks forget about: when you see a brakelight in front of you, you aren't seeing the bulb. You're seeing the reflection of the bulb in the lens and reflector of the taillight housing.

If you put in one of those "spinners" or a cheap LED bulb that only has a plate of LEDs facing the lens, and nothing facing the reflector, all the people behind you will see is a faint little bulb-sized dot of light. VERY ineffective.

Also I've found that the round "car alarm" looking LEDs aren't as bright as the square circuit-board mounted LEDs. Luxeon makes a VERY bright LED line called Lumiled; these are what's in the emergency response lights we put on cop bikes and they're the square type. My S2 actually has a pair of 3-lumiled strips mounted above the reflector, wired to a flasher that does a side-to-side "wig-wag" when I'm on the brakes in addition to the stock bulbs going bright like they're supposed to. My S1W has a pulse modulator hooked to the brake light so it "flickers", and the FLHP has an LED strip mounted to the radio box also hooked to a flasher.

Been rearended once. That was plenty for me, LOL.

Thanks Al, I put that on my wish list. I going to wait just a bit till I see that it for sure be the same as the XB.

My Uly of course has LED's. Strange to see that with the clear reflector that on it, the lights are much harder to see from the side quarter view.

Lumiled LED's are the best you can get!
Its the only LED brand I use in my tail lamp assemblies!

Be very careful with those cheap "pop-in" LED bulbs. There quality is very very low.
not to mention not very bright.

I highly suggest one of my assemblies or one from AL's. Both of ours are very bright, But as the man said, kinda pricey.

Kinda disappointing that after designing the nice, bright Uly taillight and the new 1125R headlights that Buell didn't upgrade the 'guts' of the Firebolt taillight for the 1125R.

Robert, the poster above yours, has some pretty slick ones he builds. I've got one ordered for my 1125R.

Still waiting for the first 1125 to get to Sun HD in Denver. This bike was supposed to be an early birthday present, but today's my birthday and still no new Buell in my garage.
Got the heated grip kit already and it's on the bench, waiting.
C'mon elves, get me my bike!

I actually started on your light today!
Obviously I will have to wait a couple weeks for the wiring lengths.
But it has been started!!!!

It was good talking to you the other day!

Hey Robert -
I was just telling the wife about the light you're making for me. The bike's on the way, got the VIN Thursday, should have it by next weekend. I'll call you when I have it and some info for you.

I talked to Jammin_Joules today and their bike coming next week has a VIN less than 10 from mine, so I expect mine is on the same truck, fighting the weather right now. Drive safe Mr. Truck Driver.

I am jealous. My bike is still in the initial status, which means they aren't even building it yet. I hope that the HDnet is wrong in this case. Glad you didn't cancel your order when the production delay happened.

Very glad. After one of my posts yesterday, an Anony chimed in. Sounds like the two trucks that left were all they've made so far. He said they got around a hundred built. My VIN ends in 304, they started with 100, so now I'm not sure mine's built yet if it's #204 off the line. Like I said above tho, Dave's bike has a VIN less than 10 less than mine and he says it shipped.

Crap, who knows. It'll get here when it gets here. Me and the money are waiting.

Same here. What's weird is that I feel more anxious than ever. Probably cause the I could handle the delays due to "fine-tuning", but now that the bike is done and some people will be riding them within the week....I just feel left out. I think I'll make it.

"they started with 100,"

I don't know if that is correct, as I saw #088 at the dealership in Avon, Ohio still in the crate when I picked up mine.

I'll bet they started with #1, you just won't find the first few.
