It's short, but is the first hands-on review I've seen so far:

Did anyone catch the reader posts at the bottom? " My mate,s just bought a brand new Buell,it might be one of these. The engine management system failed completely 20 mins after he collected the bike ,leaving him stranded. It was taken back,"repaired" then promptly did the same again 40 miles later. This is on a brand new model. What a hopeless piece if shit they really are.It would never happen on a Japanese bike. Someone tell Ianscotty the 1125R isn't available, yet !!

Japanses bikes don't have techs that make mistakes! Wow! I gots to get me one of those!

(My tech makes mistakes all the time. And he leaves my garage a mess. And never washes the bike. That's OK though, I never pay him, and I am quite well acquainted with his wife. ;) )

Guy on a local sportbike board rode the bike at Laguna Seca and posted this:

"Laguna Seca was INTENSE! That is the best word for it. No matter how many times
you have watched a race there, or played a racing game on that track, it doesn't
even come close to giving you the feeling of the track. Abso-friggin-lutely
awesome.

To give you an idea of how good the bike is (without giving away too much yet)
by the second 15 minute session on the track, I was sliding my knee (and my left
toe once or twice) without any drama or discomfort.

Think about that, new bike, new track, and after 15 minutes of learning where
the lines were (or something that approximated the correct lines) I had my knee
down and was having a ton of fun.

It was a great time."

Keep this as Item #1 when you read any of the upcoming re the 1125R;

The motorcycles in use at Laguna and its environs were pre-production units. All of the week's worth of journalists were told this repeatedly. This critical bit of info is missing from the MCN report. It's very important to weave this fact into the context of the riding impressions. To a large degree, it's analogous to a show opening off-broadway: This is the time when the tweeking takes place. An adjustment here, a change there can make the difference between closing in a week, and a Tony.

Modern sportbike are incredibly complex machines that, by design, respond well to adjustment. From my perspective, when motorcycle companies bring journalists together from all about the world,it is as much for the company's benefit as it is the publication's. That is, they receive a tremendous amount of expert feedback which then can be applied to production units.

Over the coming days/weeks/months there will probably be 75 or more articles written or posted re the Laguna experience. If you're smart about it, you'll read them all to get the best overall impression of just what this new Buell is all about. For those of you anxiously waiting for your own personal 1125R, keep your wit's about you, read the reports carefully (In particular, draw a firm distinction between the pre-ridden blather and an actual riding experience) and rest assured this is a very good motorcycle.

raptorsandrockets.com had a short write-up on the Laguna Seca intro. The guy obviously liked the bike, but we'll have to wait a bit more for his full ride review.

Video from Raptorsandrockets.com (with Jeremy McWilliams holding a pre-ride classroom session with the moto-journalists at Laguna Seca & on board video of a lap or two). Good stuff.

I noticed something in the first video, the V formed at the edge of the clear portion of the windscreen becomes parallel on the sides of the V with the ground. Works sort of like a lean indicator, not that a rider should focus on windscreen alignment to the ground since that could lead to contact with the ground, but it was interesting.

I count at least 11 in that photo. I hope they have that many available at the Inside Pass track days. They'll need them to keep up with the demand for demos.

The Demo Truck driver (can't remember his name) said he was loading up 35 bikes for the Western swing.

Excerpt that I liked (especially the 2nd paragraph) from the Motorcycle Daily review:

"Laguna Seca also drove home another very important point concerning the new Buell 1125R. This bike is fast . . . viciously fast. Like some other v-twins, it accelerates in a somewhat deceptive manner, but with roughly 80 pound feet of torque available over a very broad sweep of the tachometer, this 375 pound machine (claimed dry weight -- 421 pounds ready to ride without fuel) sucks up straightaways in a hurry.

It is always difficult to compare a machine to its competitors without back-to-back riding, but let me say this. If Buell isn't invited to the open-class sportbike party this year, it may just show up and kick the door down."

Very, very nice! Everybody at BMC has to be pumped right now. Even the XBs seemed to be getting better press now.
Lol, gotta be the first time I've ever heard anyone say the rear break on a Buell might be too strong!

Another excerpt from the Motorcycle Daily review:

"The engine was designed and engineered specifically for Buell, and is rated at 146 crankshaft horsepower (without Ram air . . . Ram air adds a claimed 5 hp)."

Maybe the ram air added extra power that makes Anony's hint of high 130 RWHP true?

Just read the 2wf.com article from above and it could be the most comprehensive and complimentary yet (and we all know how many glowing reviews so far). It's like a blog/review. Sorta cool and different. The author seems like an intermediate type rider--probably alot like most of us!

Alas, the 2wf.com review was written by a first time reviewer who put in the extra effort to make the article special. He even has a thread in the forum over there where you can ask him direct questions about the 1125r in case anyone is interested.
