the biggest problem buell has is harley...when the profits from the chrome pigs start to drop then u will see some change....here in washington downtown harley (one of the good buell dealerships) tried to move in with the biggest motorcycle dealership in the northwest (renton motorcycles) good move u would think especially in the direction buell is going. harley put a big nix on the project...instead they want downtown to build their own stand alone dealership in the parking lot so they wont look like they are part of RMC....think of it like harley is a big bloated cargo ship...takes a looooong time to change directions...buell more like a jet boat....too bad the jet boat is stuck riding on the cargo ship for a while longer.....the days of every assclown in the country wanting to be like jessie james and the tuttles is over...harely dealers may be in for a shock soon...flooded market and untrained unmotivated sales staff = disaster .

Harleys outnumber all other bikes in my part of Colorado about 2:1, from what I see on the road.

Problem is, most of the Harley riders are mid-life crises guys, or AARP members (all of whom look like they just left a costume party).

Only a matter of time. The 1125 is probably a good indication of what HD will be selling in volume 10 years from now.

Molly +1, ROFLMAO.

I feel the same as the topic starter. I gave my dealership all the chances in the world. But the comment made by a service writer about Michelins cracking the front wheel on my XB was the last straw. I will never frequent another HD service department EVER. Well, Downtown in Seattle and Legend in Silverdale I trust, but I live 60 miles away from either.

I will own an 1125R, and the service manual, doing my own service. Simply because I don't trust HD at all.

It is the all singing all dancing no talent ass clown reality show sometimes. Want old school hard core bikers? put the kick start back on them : D or go real old school with a single cylinder pedal start 1903 model re-deux.
Honestly if you look at the 1903, tank part of frame cross bar, belt drive, exhaust low and underslung.... Sounds more and more like a BUELL

I loved the black sheep commercial because it completely missed the reality of the situation.

You have, but you're in good company ;) Bike down for tires and brakes, back to sport bike nite next week. Stop by for a bit. Gotta show the chrome boys that the bikes dont need no stinking tassels

You haven't been to a BMW shop lately, have you?
One of the best motorcycle dealers I've ever seen sells BMWs. I was stopping in, last week and there was a customer looking at a GS out front as I pulled up. The customer looked over at my Uly with interest, and said to the owner, "What model is that? It doesn't look like a Boxer." The owner said,"It's a Buell." The customers nose elevated about three inches, and all he said was, "Oh." I walked up and said hello, and he turned away without even acknowledging my presence.
The Jackass couldn't even distinguish a Buell from a BMW, but he had to be Superior (in his mind).
I've met some buttheads on Harleys, but the most arrogant dickwads ride Beemers.
Not all Harley riders are buttheads, and not all BMW riders are arrogant buffoons. Sometimes it sure seems that way, though.

I am confussed by the above statments about H-D riders. I grew up around H-D guys all my life and i have only met 3 kinds none of witch seemed snooty.

1. The big bad biker gang type who usually had a rap sheet a mile long.

2. the die hard H-D person thats bike is worth more than there house which were usually pretty humble folks.

3. The familly bikers like my grand parents who like to do all the chraity events and stuff like that.

now granted my grandparents type may infact have snooty pople in that classification the ones they hung out with were generally nice people. Alot of my grandfathers freinds were ex flattrackers that converted to riding H-ds cuz they was to old to be mixing it up on dirt anymore (mygrandfather being one of them). Now this may also be due to the location of my experiance also because this was in Louisiana and we are just generally nice people but who knows.

Actually it was spot on. No matter what the color, sheep are sheep. : )

Not all Harley riders are sheep though. There seems to be a pretty reliable trademark identifying those HD guys I term sheep... Its a chrome "add on" with the words: "Ride to live, Live to ride". The "Wild Hog" bunch.

I guess the need to belong is stronger in some, no biggie.

I'd agree to the dealer problem to some extent. Our sales people would love to sell more Buells but it's hard for someone to be enthusiastic about a product they have no interest in themselves. We usually have one or two sales people that are knowledgeable on 'em...or they just get me.

I don't really want to pay 13K for a bike that has a resale value of about 50% of what I paid.

That's just the way it is in the Sportbike world.

Obviously, you are not familiar the 4th class of HD owner, which is referenced in the recent posts in this thread.

PS--Your spelling and grammar removes any credibility of your post.

What does spelling and grammar have to do with someones credibility ? Does this mean because your computer skills are lacking and you grew up working from the first day you could, not in the play-station or xbox generation. And by learning to type later in life...your not credible? Your small minded! There are those types of "People" in everything when comparing, both good and bad! Dont be that one sided liberal I think you are because you are from Fresno.

68, typing skills have nothing to do with spelling ability or grammar my friend. You just might have type a little slower or maybe pay attention to the yellow boxes that show typos. To me, a person who butchers the english language like that is either lazy or stupid...sorry.

Small minded? Whatever. Care to explain the "liberal from Fresno" comment? Love to hear that brilliance. One "small minded" comment for another, or what?

Liberal???
Everyone I've ever talked to here in the SJ Valley has claimed to be a right wing, red neck farmer or oil hand.
A few of those hot tub republicans too, but most of them's in office.
Not many peacocks tho cuz all the red neck farmers thought they was fancy, screaming chickens.
Say that could be related to why Harleys are so popular here too.

It dosen't matter what a person rides or what their background is. Only their attitude matters and I've found good and bad on every brand, but far less bad on Buells.

Fresno,

that should read "You just might have "TO" type a little slower."

It is hard to take your spelling and credibility argument seriously when you also are guilty of grammar errors and omissions !.

It must be SO difficult to be so perfect. But it is the illusion of personal perfection that causes the problem. You so aptly demonstrate your personal inadequate editing skills within one post of your insulting critique.

What a HOOT!!

Fresno, check the HP Torque thread, should read 'Can 'NOT' read anything to say...' That's two for two errors in as many posts. I guess that adds up to ZERO credibility for you in your scheme of things. Talk about living in a glass house and still throwing rocks!

Gotta back up here a bit on what I said in an earlier post about "somethings has to change with HD/Buell and their sales and service". It seems as though it might be already changing as in Kneesliders website interview with Erik he talked about the dealer "problem" and said that a while back they decided too many dealerships in one area were stepping on each other and they thinned out Buell dealers which seemed to be the case here with our four HD dealers within 50 miles or so with only one Buell dealership now. He said there was not enough sales and interest to have full time sales people and mechanics at each dealer so chose a few select ones to carry the load. My ordering experience a few weeks ago seemed to confirm this as the one sales person I dealt with was fairly knowledgable on Buells. Now I will talks to them about their repair staff to see if they, in fact as Erik suggested, will have a decent factory trained Buell tech. Here's hoping for the best and if not I will continue to do my own maintenance and repair except for warranty repairs. Anxiously awaiting my 1125R.

I don't know what the typical HD dealer is like. I've spent most of my riding life avoiding 'chromers' like the plague. They don't seem to have the good sense to wear decent helmets, and I'm always afraid they're drunk-riding - in Wisconsin, many in the HD crowd rides from bar to bar for burgers and beer. It's a shame Buell has to be associated with HD.
