Will parts be kept in stock in regional warehouses to avoid long delays waiting for needed parts?

I'm lucky in that Glendale tends to stock commonly needed Buell stuff. Others may not be so lucky. Sometimes when stuff needs to be ordered, it can add quite a bit of time.

Just ordered some gaskets for the top end and carb rebuild for Sunny's 1985 Honda - ordered them today, they'll be at the Honda dealer on Tuesday. We need that kind of turn-around (and I'm an anti-Honda kind of guy - that's another thread, another time)

(OK OK OK - don't get on me for Sunny's Honda "problem" - those two VF500F bikes that she has are classics). Everything else in the garage is Buell.

Buell and H-D ship from one central location in Milwaukee. I think the worst UPS from here is some of the remote areas of mountain west at 4 days. It has been well documented that most parts delays are the fault of dealers. Almost every part ordered leaves the Milwaukee warehouse with in 24 hours ans usually the day it is ordered.

Anytime anyone waits more than a week I would suggest it is a dealer problem.

I believe you are 100% correct Dave as my dealer has told me right out they only order every so often (maybe two weeks) when there is enough to make it profitable to THEM. Appleton will probably get all my business when I need something. Bob

We have hit my sore spot with Buell on this one. I like most Badwebbers) am a Buell FREAK. Love the bikes, giggle every time I ride. HOWEVER I live in Canada, I have a 5 month riding season at best. I was just down 3 weeks because my voltage regulator crapped out. Basic part known to go on the XB's. The kicker..not one in the ENTIRE country. When told it could be 6-8 weeks to get one through Deeley Canada (distribution owner of all things HD in Canada) I called up Andy and had one in 10 days.

This is the major factor in my determining between a new XB or the 1125R. I will probably choose the XB even though I really would rather the 1125R.

I've ordered a part in the past for my Buell that was not stocked stateside. Such parts are direct from supplier which means waiting for overseas shipping. I can't say if they were just out at the time or it was decided not to stock the part stateside. Buell was kind enough to go through extraordinary efforts to get me the part without having to wait the 60 days.

that was not stocked stateside.

I find that a little hard to believe. It is possible to go upside down on a part but it does not happen often.

Who told you that, and what did you order?

The Deely thing does not sound good. One thye should have the dam things in there warehouse if they can't drop ship direct to the dealer from Milwaukee.

Amber front wheel for XB12 about one year after introduction. Air leak through rim defect after paint finally cracked over it. One and only time I've heard of it. None anywhere in US at the time on dealers computer search and listed as direct from supplier - 60 days. Service writer showed me the computer screen. Didn't ask for help but my story and joke about a slow boat from China on the Xboard got a few rules bent.
People called me out of the blue.
I'm very impressed with the effort that was made.
I was asked NOT to say more so I won't but it was all pretty cool.

What would the difference be btw parts for the 1125r & XB?

Because at least the XB has been around for a few years and there is a much better chance of getting parts up here in Canada than with the 1125R.

Whenever I ordered parts from my first dealer, it was always "out of stock, backordered, not available, call back try again".

Then, amazingly, after switching to a Dayton OH dealer, it was "Computer shows we have that in stock, please hold while I go pull it off the shelf and put your name on it" and "I apologize, we don't have that in stock, I will order it today and it should be here in three days, may I have a number I can call when it arrives?" and "I am out of stock, but the truck has not come yet today and we ordered more when we sold the last one, let me call you back after 3pm."

Then, equally amazing, when I went back to a "new" Cincinnati area dealer, it was "we don't have front brake pads in stock, we can order them, it will take a couple weeks" and no callbacks telling me it was in in spite of the fact they made me prepay and got my phone number.

Funny, how the Buell factory completely changes what it can and can't do every time I walk in a different dealer ;)
