Hi, I was wondering how effective the counterbalancers are, and what the perceived vibration, if any, is for the rider while running on the road. I was at Monterey and Laguna, and heard the bike run and felt the frame and bars and pegs while the engineer was spinning her up. It was pretty smooth, with just a bit of buzz detectable, and no shake whatsoever. I suspect it may run even smoother on the road with a load on the motor, but would like an opinion of someone who actually rode the bike!
How about compared to a well running late model tuber with good bushings all the way around, or an XB?
Not at idle, but running down the road at cruise, and under brisk acceleration?
Thanks again for all the great info...

Ray

Jeez. it would really nice to be able to see something out of my mirrors. All I can see are figures in my mirrors and forget trying to tell if its a smokey...the vibrations don't bother me otherwise. That being said it would be nice to get smooth power like my buddy's Busa.

I replaced the stock mirrors with Napolean Barend mirrors. Not only do I NOT stare at my upper arms anymore, but they give me a clear view behind me at all times (no vibration distortion). Highly recommended!

What did it sound like?

I would bet the 1125 is very smooth on the road. It has one more balancer shaft than the Rotax V60 in the Aprilia, and the V60 is very smooth - no objectionable vibration whatsoever. Both motors are solid mounted in the frame. The V60 feels like it is just loafing along at 70-80 mph...at a little over 4,000 rpm.

For a stock muffler, it sounded real sweet. A sort of aprilia like sound, definitely a stock pipe, but a nicer growl than the stock XB pipes, not a sportster motor sound, that's for sure.

Describing sounds with words is so difficult and subjective, I wish I could do better for you.

I was surprised at how good it sounded, I am usually totally dissapointed with stock pipes.
However, it ain't no vance and hines on a built Buell motor, either.

I put my deposit on one yesterday.

I know I can't describe the sound.
If the XB is a Pit bull, I'd say the 1125R is a Doberman.

Check this thread out for links to Paintballtommy's videos of the 1125R running at the Buell tent at Laguna Seca.

I think I'll put my deposit tomorrow. Anyone know if there will be a race kit like my '03 bolt? Those pipes might be the ugliest eom ever, Mike

I always liked the look of the pipe, how it conformed to the shape of the engine. The twin outlet pipes are a nice touch to boot.
In real life it looks even better and sounds way better than any stock pipe has a right to : )

Like Bigblock says, it has a nice growl to it but it shouldn't require earplugs to ride it : D

That's possibly another dream of mine fulfilled by Buell. A pipe with a good sound that isn't obnoxiously loud
