FB... what the hell's a bodum?? Doesn't sound good. No center stand for all the reasons stated above. I still consider a kick stand a luxury. | ||

THe only experience I have with a center stand is some scooter at last years CW show in San Mateo. I found it a pain in the ass to rock that thing back onto the center stand. I certainly wouldn't want to do it with a bike that probably weighs twice as much. | ||

My early eighties vf1000f interceptor is the last sport bike I can remember having a center stand on...and I promptly removed it to keep from levering the rear tire off the ground after a close call on Mt. Palomar. You REALLY don't want one on a bike that leans as hard as sport bikes do in the twisties. | ||

There are some nice sport bikes (not super sport) that have center stands. Suzuki Bandit and Kawasaki ZR-7 come to mind. My ZR leans a lot... I ride it aggressively (no chicken strips on a 160 rear) and it has never touched the centerstand to road. I love it on this bike and I like them in general. Not saying the 1125R needs one, but they are nice and the Ulysses should have one, but it would be difficult to fit one on a Buell. They are really nice especially when the ground is not good for just a kickstand (uneven or soft). They are great when touring and you have a lot of gear and weight piled on your bike. I never use the kickstand under those situations, because you can't trust it as much. One last thing... if you are familiar with how to properly put a bike onto it's centerstand, it's not difficult, even on heavy bikes with gear on them. They make working on the bike in emergency situations (like changing a blown tire, etc.) much easier when you forgot to pack your removable-type with you like the one pictured above. I understand where Buellistic is coming from. | ||

...And I agree with 45_degrees - the Uly should have one available or standard. The 1125? Doesn't seem to fit the intended use quite as much. I think spools (see the spool thread) are a good idea for the racers (and the poseurs like me, LOL). | ||

Yeah, I kinda figured I was doing something wrong when I was trying to use that center stand for the first time. My thoughts were "There is NO way this could be this hard." I was right no doubt. | ||

Fresno- The best way lift them up onto the stand is to stand off to the side while pushing down on the centerstand foot pad and holding the handle bar with your left hand and lifting on the bike (usually if it has a centerstand, it has a convenient hidden grab bar for doing this). It'll just rock right up onto the stand with minimal effort. You were right, they shouldn't be difficult. Hey I just remembered that a bike I really like has a centerstand too... the Yamaha FZ1! I've been wanting one of those really bad! Now, I want an 1125R too!  | ||

Yes, but you can do it either way... staying on the bike is much more difficult because you aren't really lifting so much as trying to keep your foot down on the stand and yanking back on the handlebars. | ||

...proper lifting technique is the key to success. I was able to teach my 115lb. wife how to lift my 877lb. (dry weight) Goldwing onto the center stand. She told me there was no way in hell she was putting it up, imagine her surprise when, with minimal effort, she popped it right on, first try. It is more balance than grunt. No chain on the 'Wing, but it was always nice and easy to work on that thing, when it was up in the air. | ||

For you GENTLEMEN that are worried about "WEIGHT" !!! For every 12 pounds(including Rider BODY weight)you get 1(ONE) free rolling "HORSE POWER" that does not show up on a "DYNO" !!!
