As you are aware, Ducati Sells a performance exhaust system, and ecm for the new 1098. Anyone can buy one of these for their new Ducati. Will Buell market something comparable for the 1125r, or are their hands tied by H.D.? Thank you, Brian

I seriously doubt that you will ever see an aftermarket pipe for the 1125R offered by Buell. The race pipe for the XB got the axe, I'm sure that one will never be made for the 1125R. You're only option there will be aftermarket vendors.

They cut the "race pipes" as part of the H-D knee-jerk against loud pipes. All of the screaming eagle pipes got quieter,
and the Buell pipes simply went away.

I for one wish they could find a way to make a quiet pipe that will flow enough volume to produce hp equal to or
better than the louder pipes....I think that the original XBRR pipe was pretty quiet and it could produce 150hp (plus
or minus) so I know it's possible.....My Jardine's noise (without the quiet insert) can be a bit tiresome after a while .

I think that there really is a market for this kind of pipe.

(No, this isn't the signal for a "loud pipes save lives" free for all, I won't change my mind about it without the laws
of physics are drastically altered in regards to the way sound waves travel, regarding cell phone usage while driving,
and regulating the volume level inside of the other vehicles.....good luck, I'd like to see the last 2 happen....SOON)

I talked with Abe at laguna seca and he told me pretty much the government made it well known to harley and alot of the other motorcycle manufacturers that off road means off road... i dont think buell will be providing an aftermarket race ecm and pipe.

Motorcycle manufacturers have to comply with worldwide noise/emission regs that differ from country to country and even state to state in some cases. This is where aftermarket manufacturers have a distinct advantage when it comes to making 'race' pipes as they are not limited in the same way.

We have a major exhaust manufacturer standing by ready to make 'race' pipes for the 1125R just as soon as we can get a bike to them.
I would think that we will have something available to announce by January/February of 2008.

Would this be Micron?

Sorry OT. I'd like to see a street legal performance pipe like what Screamin' Eagle has gone to for the most part.

I'm sure it is, but it's a whole new ball of wax in that respect. Someone will have to sit down and hack into it again. It will be a while before we see Direct-Link for DDFI 3 I think.

Well, I for one would purchase an after-market muffler that was not "deafening"! Every single muffler I've tried has lead to loud ringing after a few days. All I want is a muffler that sounds better than the "sewing machine" stock muffler, and that it performs. Why is this so hard to do?

There are so many other brands of beautiful mufflers in the market, but none for the Buell. Even Triumph make their own amazingly sounding mufflers - granted, they may not perform like an "Arrow" exhaust, but at least they sound beautiful.

Sometimes I play with the thought of going back to a "Jap" bike because of the availability of accessories, etc, but I know I'll miss my XB. What to do, what to do...

Trojan has a bunch of "E" certified aftermarket pipes that are much more attractive than stock and should be responsibly quiet as well. Only drawback is that they do not have the internal bracing required to allow them to be "jacking points" nor do they support the active exhaust for the XB12 models meaning some kind of playing around with the ECM would be in order.

Unfortunately, none of them are readily available in the States and would have to be ordered from overseas, increasing the price of ownership.

I am with you guys, I would be all over a quiet pipe that sounded better. I had the Buell Race Pipe and took it off. I got it because the American Sport Bike shootout said it was the quietest, yet it resonated in my ears on the highway and I just couldn't stand it anymore. The stock pipe sounds good when you are on it and decent at cruise, but even something like a "quiet Drummer" or a stock looking pipe that sounded better at idle and off-idle would be nice.

I want sound, not noise.

The 1125R has the best sounding stock exhaust we have ever done, as we spent an insane amount of time tuning it for not only power with meeting noise standards, but also for quality of sound. That being said, if you didn't have to meet all the sound regulations and durability requirements, you could make a louder and significantly lighter system. It'll be cool to see what Termignoni, Micron, Akrapovic, etc. make!

Man I keep thinking something must be wrong with my race can. It just doesn't sound that loud to me. It's nowhere near as loud as some of the Harleys around here.

If its too loud your too OLD! I make my own pipes and I'll do the same on my new 1125R as soon as I get it.

I don't think I am too old. I am 29 and respect my neighbors in my community. iI like to ride and not be the center of attention for my local police department. I like quiet, it makes you stealth and allows you to enjoy more hooliganism.

Doubt that will happen... I don't see any of them jumping on the XB exhaust train, with the exception of the Micron... if they made one I would buy it for my 12R.

I think the 1125r is going to open a lot of doors / minds / possibilities that maybe weren't there before.

I personally, disagree...

To ME, hooliganism, is making that middle aged, cell phone yapping, B*TCH in her convertible mercedes, yell at me at a stoplight... "do you mind, shut that off, I am on the phone!"

SO, I test my rev limiter real quick, and she puts the top up...and curses me....

THAT is hooliganism TO ME...

I think you'll be in for a surprise then. The 1125 will sell to a much broader market and to customers who would otherwise not consider buying a Buell. Those customers are the ones who would normally buy a Ducati/Aprilia/ANOther sport bike and who will turn to established aftermarket manufacturers that they are already familiar with. First thing on their mind will be to junk the stock exhaust and get something lighter/louder/sexier on there, and they will look to the major exhaust companies to supply this for them.

There will also be more people wanting to race the 1125 than the XB, particularly in Europe where the XB doesn't really fit into any established classes (except Thunderbike), so there will be more opportunities for race bodywork, tuning and cycle parts than before too.

I can see that the 1125 will bring many more aftermarket manufacturers into play, and we are already talking to some of them : )

Mat (Trojan): I sincerely hope you are right! My biggest disappointment is not being able to purchase for my 12R stuff that I usually buy whenever I have a new motorcycle. If I was living in Europe I wouldn't mind, as there are tons of parts available for the XB's. Just looking at your website there are many components that I would love to purchase, but with the exchange rate, most are pretty much out of my reach.

I know that some are going to say that there are many parts available here, but I'm not interested in over-priced cosmetics.

Paul

PS Like in "Field of Dreams", if someone builds it, they will come, so it shall be with this 1125r. If it happens, I'll be in line to purchase a new 1125r, but until then I'll wait and see...

I wonder if D&D is making a pipe for this bike. I know D&D may not be the top of the line stuff for most sport bikes but every bike i have owned or herd that had D&D i thought they sounded alot better than some of the other brands but thats just me.
