No photo shop, but here are the hoops for that set in real life, Not cheap, but they will get the job done for sure.

Do they attach at the passenger peg mount?

I've recieved the blessing from my wife to get a new bike. The only stipulation was that it had to be a fairly comfortable 2-up bike. She didn't like the Uly but thought the XB12Ss was okay. But I wanted something with more wind protection (replacing an S3T). I was very close to pulling the trigger on a V-Strom until the new Buell hit the scene. With the "interchangable" tailsection, I can put a Ss tail on the 1125R. But I really need something that has saddlebags (preferably hard bags). My goal is to create my own 1125ST.

Being able to add some hard bags to this new bike will get me thinking about it.

Gtmg and others, my full faired M2 is mostly a canyon chaser here but I have a nice set of soft bags for longer distance touring that hold quite a bit. Fairly big and look a little out of place on a sport bike but work just fine for the casual touring at a spirited pace and are instantly, read 2 minutes, removable. Why is it that you guys prefer hard luggage unless they stay attached for looks as on my old BMW R100RS. Just wondering.

"Why is it that you guys prefer hard luggage.."

CCW permits here in Fla., not very responsible to leave the 9mm in a softbag : )

Curtis, I understand completely; I have one here also, but to me that means "carry" and I want ready and quick access to mine when I need it. Its in a side carry holster. I really do like hard luggage but I also like the easy on and off with soft type.

Bob, the list of places you cannot carry, including sporting events, moto races, bars, schools etc. is so comprehensive, that you really need a secure case to leave it in, if you travel at all on the bike. That is why I let my permit expire, worrying about securing it when I couldn't carry it just got to be too much trouble.

Hardbags on my old r1100sa worked great.

I could pull up to a place. Pull off helmet and place in in hardcase. removed riding gear and place in other bag. Lock secure move on.

I've got soft bags on the x1. Which limits what I can secure in them due to size and no lock.

The positive about softbags is that they are ez to get on and off. The negative about softbags is that they are ez to get on and off for everybody and you cannot always carry them into where you go. Also, I ride in the rain on some long trips and need a waterproof setup.

I use some locking, self-spooling, hard cable devices on my bike that allow the bags to be easily secured to the bike. These locking devices are hardly larger than an older cell phone and store away easily when not in use. I can attach my helmet, jacket and tank bag with one device, which only cost about $20.

I carry plastic bags in all of my soft and hard luggage, because the S2's bags are water resistant, not water-proof. I would think that for a modest investment of soft bags, the new 1225R would be an excellent touring machine. I plan to use mine for such adventures.

But what do I know about it...I am just a "troll".

BMW hardbags are simple to get on and off. Unlock lift both handles and pull up.

I've not yet seen the Uly bags.

The Uly bags are a lot easier to take off than the soft bags on the lightning. The rack looks a little funny without them, though

Am I missing something here? I don't know that I've ever seen a hard bag that required nothing more than than a turn of a key and yank on some handle to get off. You literally have a bag detached from the bike in 4 seconds.

Soft bags are always a pain - I have them on my Firebolt. Take off the passenger seat, undo the velcro, hold them both up still so they don't bend the bracket, take them off the bracket, set them down on the ground so you can put the passenger seat back on. It doesn't take forever, but it's much more cumbersome and akward than any hardbag configuration I've ever seen.

My soft bags are always sagging and swinging too. I have to spend half an hour screwing around with bungees trying to make sure the bags won't swing into the rear tire.

I'd LOVE a set of quick release hard bags.

i don't think 2 up on a lightning is a good idea. took my girlfriend out on it and after an hour she was not too happy.

poor girl needed a good massage of certain part of her anatomy for a while : )

unless there are any aftermarket seats available she'll ride her own bike from now on.
