We will never make everyone happy, guaranteed. However, we want to build the best motorcycles for our customers, friends, and ourselves as we know how. In this case, after literally two decades of effort, we were able to get an engine made to our specifications for a no-compromise street sport bike. You are absolutely free not to buy it, not to like it, or to even decide that it's not American enough for you. However, you may have a very long wait until you find an affordable performance motorcycle that is more American than the 1125R, a machine that was designed, tested, and built in the US, with as many world-class US parts as we could find.

Unlike a GSX-R1000, it is not a racer replica, and we did not design it as the basis of a race bike. But we did design it for performance, and you might be surprised on which of the two bikes a certain GP rider turned his best lap times on. Usable performance isn't necessarily about making the most peak horsepower.

Fair enough and I agree with your assessment of Racer replica bikes,mine is torture after half an hour.I like everything I see on 1125 except the made in Austria part. If this helps sales to the point where you can afford to build the next gen engine here then iI GUESS It is a good thing.I will be waiting.

I think the fallacy of the argument is the assumption that just because the first few years of a part or component are outsourced non-domestically that they will ALWAYS be outsourced non-domestically.

Sometimes you have to borrow resident talent from the best most cost effective source in order to bring a product to market. Economies of scale dictate profitability. It wouldn't make sense to build a brand new 100,000 sq ft facility with 1,000 people in it for 3,000 bikes. There'd be a whole lot of folks standing around with their thumbs in their butts.

As production increases and economies of scale provide that it is more cost effective to bring it in house, I can't imagine that Buell wouldn't bring the production state side.

How would that be any different than Aprilia? Would anyone say that the affiliation with Rotax was a bad thing for Aprilia?

For two days, I rode with a guy who had a really nice Falco. I prayed to the Buell gods that an engine something like it had would appear in the XB frame.

Thank you Buell gods. Now I'd like a pony.

Or Jessica Biel.

Ft_bstrd now your busted, you'd put a pony before Jessica Biel? At least you've got the right outlook on the rotax. But I am for buying american whenever I can!

Didn't Bimota pretty much "outsource" their motors?

In fact, what the hell happened to Bimota? Remember when they were the company Buell should aspire to be more like? Maybe they got bought by Excelsior-Henderson or Indian. . . . I can't keep up.

Doz,

Asking for a Pony was like begging the Buell gods for the V-Rod engine in a Buell.

It's only because we didn't expect them to deliver dead sexy like Jessica Biel.

I'm hoping history will repeat itself!

I am fairly certain there are parts on your FXRS that are NOT made in the US...

Have you checked your Harelywear lately?? Seems the "US MADE" MoCo outsources A LOT of their H-D Wear... An example; my licensed H-D labeled jacket was made in Indonesa... My licensed H-D labeled helmet was made in Korea...

Ah, Chevy... didn't Cameros and Firebirds get made in Canada??

If you all remember, Bimota got cocky and thought they could build their own engine - and that major screw-up put them out of business for a number of years...

Qoute from a recent MotorTrend article, putting the Toyota Tundra vs a Chevy P/U;

"Did You Know?
America's truck is built in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico."

Same article speaks of the AMERICAN MADE Toyota built in Texas.....

But I quess a Chevy is an American truck, as it is made in NORTHERN America....

Go figure...

To the BUELL factory people lurking in here;

You guys did an excellent job with the new 1125!! Great steps forward for BUELL. Keep up the great work!!!!

Name one product that is 100 percent American made. Good luck with that. Few and far between. I'd rather have a Rotax motor in my bike than the fat pig, underpowered, over sized V-Rod brick.

If you thumb thru the pics here you'll find Gloria O'Brian on a Buell where she stunt-doubled for Jessica Biel. Images 2 & 16 of 26.

"Rocketsprink - Name one product that is 100 percent American made. Good luck with that. Few and far between. I'd rather have a Rotax motor in my bike than the fat pig, underpowered, over sized V-Rod brick."

I can name tons and tons. Then again I am more US made concerned then 99 percent of the US population. Do I pay an arm and a leg for the stuff I buy? Yup. Do I expect the quality of US made products to be the best in quality? Yup. Are they always the best in quality? Nope, but the majority of the time they are. Are there occasions where I am forced to buy something not made in the US? Yup. My Buell is a perfect example.

US made products are out there for most of the stuff you buy. It's just putting the time in to research who you have to buy from to find the stuff. You dont want to know how much time I spend finding items to buy.

Car parts are interesting as I am not able to browse the parts behind the counter myself. Soooo, the NAPA employees hate when I walk in because they know that if they have a part with many options they will be pulling everyone to find the one I will purchase.

Regular (clothing, electronics, tools etc..) stores are not bad as I can look at labels myself. Mail/Internet ordering is another interesting challenge.

I have not always been this way but in the not so distant past I changed my purchasing habits for more reasons that I or you all care to read about right now.

Edit: One more thing that just came up in my head. The reason most people think it's hard to find US made products if for two reasons MOST of the time. 1) They chose not to really look, and 2) If they do find it their not willing to pay for it. That is why the mass influx of foreign items are have made their way here. That and a lot of other reasons but again, gotta stop typing.

That was the first thing to pop into my mind too, but coming from Ft_bstrd, my mind juxtaposed a pony on Jessica Biel...
