How does the "four digit security code" work?

Will I be able to use the high beam flasher, turn signal canceler etc for "digits" or just the buttons on the dash? It looks like there are only two buttons on the dash... That's why I'm asking.

It should feel like an old friend : ). Being a computer geek I'm used to pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete for a reboot or a login : ).

Just a bump in case it hadn't been noticed : ).

Simplicity is the answer: You program in your own PIN and use the toggle buttons on the instrument cluster (after easily navigating to the proper screen) to enter it and ride off. Takes way less than 30 seconds.

Would there happen to be any "warning" to would-be thieves that the engine is immobilized--perhaps a large message on the LED screen to this effect. Seems like the purpose of this security system loses alot of luster if your bike gets ripped off and THEN the jackasses who stole it realize they will never be able to start it...

There are under 1000 possibilities for the code to be cracked. If they start at 0001 they will eventually figure it out. It is a nice feature however, to keep people from asking to ride your bike, or a friend just hoping on your bike and starting it, plus insurance discounts. Truly, if someone wants to steal your bike and is successful in doing so, the code won't matter.

My bad, there are 9,999 possibilities. This makes it a lot tougher. Way to go Buell!!!

It would be nice (and rather simple) if something like "Engine Locked" or some other descriptive phrase was displayed when the Security was on. But a backlit LED message may cause battery drain issues, I suppose.

Actually it is 10,000.

There are 10 numbers 0-9.

10x10x10x10= 10,000 ;)

I would think that most would just steal for parts, as even the best sportbikes are relatively cheap, so the thieves can easily buy their own and ride legally--as opposed to hotwiring one and exposing themselves to the outside world on a stolen bike (ie the police).

Although most thieves are not the brightest of the bunch....

30 seconds to start your bike every time seems like a big waste of time to people like me who do everything, well almost, everything quickly

Hondamar,

There are a number of ways to set it to increase the speed of getting through the security, all the way up to disabling it so it is simply a turn the key and go system. But having security available is important to some folks and gets a big insurance break in Europe.

I know I've got the HD 5-digit system down to about six seconds...I'd expect this to be just about as easy.

Any chance there'll be a squawk/chirp/siren feature? I already have issues with "customers" at work sitting on my tuber..."because it's at a dealer, it must be OK". Definitely don't want that happening with the 1125!
