I've missed my true calling. Having tested the most popular methods for a get-off I have a preference for grassy low side -- the high side division probably has some restrictive age limits in place.

Buell is master at stuffing 10lbs into an 8lb bag. Every bit of mass centralized space is exploited to its utmost
But still VERY easy to work on, isn't it amazing!!?
Now where do I sign up to test crash moto's? |

il second the radiator heat thing...i had forgotten about the heat...first ten miles on the new CBR..at a stop light i was wondering WTF is with the africa hot all of a sudden....yeah that big rad gets warm and comes right up into ur face. |

Buells have great prices on replacement parts. I remember about a month after I bought my XB, i had an unfortunate run in with a curb. I broke the shifter and scratched the plastic pieces on the left side air scoop and oil cooler shroud. I was shocked at how reasonable the replacement parts were. I believe the entire bill was $70 to $80. And there are many more examples too.}
True 'dat. I dropped a 12Ss over in a Whataburger parking lot (don't ask) - broke the left peg, bent the shifter and scratched the mirror. Total replacement costs was something like $65. No other cosmetic scratches.
On the other hand, I dropped this '04 BMW K1200RS off the side stand in a parking lot and ended up with just over $2000 in damages to the left side tupperware, mirror and passenger footpeg.

When you
1) spend $30k on a CFD license, and then spend time/money training one of your few available engineers in CFD...
or
2) spend $30k+ to have CFD experts outside of your company develop a couple of CFD options...
...you are going to make sure you do things right.
...the pods are done right.
For the sake of contrast, I wish Buell would show a CFD solution for the airflow to a conventionally located radiator. It aint pretty.
I own a Ducati. I will own more Ducatis before all is said and done. I notice that, in general, most Ducati owners like to stand back and admire the "sexiness" of their bike. The airflow to the radiator on the 4 valve, liquid cooled Ducs is anything but sexy.

Hmmm, sounds like most of the HD crowd around my parts....
Function over form for me baby and I believe that the 1125 has GOBS of BOTH! Gawd, I can't wait to write that check. MUST BE SOMETHIN' SPECIAL TO MAKE ME SO WILLING TO PART WITH THAT MUCH CASH....congratuations Buell mission accomplished. |

Sorry all - but those pods are fugly! There is bound to be aftermarket scoops (eventually) that'll look a lot better with same function....after we dropped the bike on both sides of course... |

Buellenator--Have you seen this bike in person? There are many reports that the pods are not nearly as "eye-catching" as in the photos. And some have even gone as far as saying they look good in person!
I for one am glad that Buell has a distinct look still--one of the reasons I bought my XB was NOT to be one of the cookie-cutter sportbikes out there. Thank God, I will still be on a unique machine both in looks and performance. I can't wait for the 1125r. |

Fresnobuell........ I was working in Madera from Jan thru March, the 6th to be exact. On the 6th I was going north down Blackstone just after Mineretts when some Jack ass flipped a U in front of me thus resulting in my bike(06 XB12R) being destroyed and the end of that job for a broken self. My ? is this, why is there no real bike night in Fresno that anyone knows about? I hit the one spot, starbucks, very weak, I rode with a few guys in a big circle and they thought I was crazy for going around corners, what gives? |

Placing the radiator intake directly behind the front wheel, as many Ducs do, seems to be inviting FOD to the radiator. |

98--I am a bit older (gulp, 34), so I don't really frequent too many places on the weekends as the trouble seems to outweigh the enjoyment factor. You know that Fresno is a "model" for DUI enforcement
Anyway, besides that I have found that MANY of the sportbike crowd here are what we would refer to as "squids" or "posers". That is why the crew from Starbucks had that reaction. As most riders do, I check out the chicken strips on pretty much every bike and more often than not they are chicken breasts.
Sorry about your accident and hope you get back in the saddle soon. I always say that if I get into a wreck it will almost certainly be because of some cager on a cell phone or something.

from those cutaway shots of the scoops it looks like there is some extra plastic on the front end that may have reduced to cut their size. |
