Question for anyone who has sat on one of these 1125R's.

How is the seat/footpeg and seat/handlebar relationship compared to say a Honda VFR?

I can ride my VFR for about an hour tops before I need to get off to stretch my legs and knee's, and I can live with that. No way can I ride todays sport bikes...way to tight. So I'm hoping this is not another super cramped race replica.

I would be interest in the comparison to the Lightning and Firebolt...I can relate to these bikes.

My information is that it is very similar to a Firebolt. In other words, pretty agressive.

If it is like a Firebolt then this bike is not going to be on my list. Thats a real shame!

So far what I see of the 1125R makes me want one. The last sport bike I had was a '04 Honda CBR1000RR. Man what a bike! But it was just to hard on this creaky body.

Here I am at 52 and at a point in my life that the price of a bike is not much concern. I'm sure there are plenty of others in my position...but due to age and wear and tear our legs, backs, knee's just can't adapt to these wonderful new bikes.

Sure wish the manufacturers would realize this and just open the ergos a couple of inches or so. As I see it most of the younger guys can't afford the bikes and or the insurance and us older guys can but nothing fits!

Just to clear the air here I'm not a "cruiser" type of rider. Even the so called Standards (FZ1 2nd gen) are too small now.

Guess I'll wait for the next gen Uly and hope it is based on this new platform.

From the rider pics and just riding my XB9S with traction pegs, it looks like it is a little more relaxed in the leg area. We''ll see about the reach to the bars. The pic also doesn't look that bad as the XBR in the handlebar reach. Check it out on the 1125 minisite. At least that "rider" looks pretty upright in his position. It is in the Ideal Rider environment.

There's more leg room on the 1125 than the Firebolt, because the bike is narrower in the footpeg area, and the pegs can mount lower for the same lean angle clearance.

Can we easily turn it into a touring model?

Add some "GOOD" bags.
Changed the bars, raise them, bring them back in order to sit more upright.

I think we'll have an 1125s before next years riding season. Remember there was about a 6 month gap between the release date of the 9r and 9s. We also have the media to deal with, and for the first go around it will be best to have the pointest end of the spear to present to them. Their are members of the media who will try and say it is not a superbike, and consign to some nitch market. There is going to be a spool up time at the factory and one model might all their is time for. They have other models to build when the XBr came out didn't the production of tubers just stop.

I am a big guy...but I'm trying to lose some weight. : )

At 6'5" and 235lbs, I don't fit comfortably on many bikes, even so called sport tourers (such as a VFR).

When I sat on the 1125, I was surprised. It wasn't bad at all. The Firebolt is hideous...just a torture rack for me. It ranks right up there with a Gixxer. Even the 12S isn't very comfortable for me.

I think the 1125 is pretty close to the Ss in leg room. I never have any problems reaching bars because my arms are so long, so even the lowers clip ons don't bother me.

I don't think I could do a 500 mile day on the 1125 without pain (the seat looks a little thin!), but I woudn't have any trouble doing a 20 minute track session on it. : )

Here's a picture of Erik and I and Homecoming year before last. You can see there is quite a height difference. : )

It's hard to tell with pictures...
But it looks like the 1125 would take the XB12S pegs for more seat to peg room.
And the custom seat from the 12R might fit too, or maybe Buell will soon offer one like it for distance riders.
I swapped out both the seat and pegs on my 12R and it made it much nicer on my old, broken down knees. Gives about another one and a half inches. And I'm not tiny at 6'1" and ah, er, ahem
1/8 of a ton

I wouldn't say it's a shame. The 1125 a race bike what do you expect, apes? btw, the firebolt isn't all that aggressive compared to the R6 and many other jap sport bikes.

Ergos combined with aerodynamics will make this a very sought out bike me thinks.

The ones that will be delivered to my area are already spoken for!
I could win the lotto next week & still not be able to get one

I don't think this bike was designed as a "race" bike. Although it most likely can be tracked I think Erik and staff wanted to make a real world street bike.

That being said I will reserve final comments on the ergos until I can sit on and hopefully demo a 1125R later this year.

Hey folks- I managed to make it to the dealer show in Nashvegas, and my impressions were as follows:

S pegs will fit for another inch of legroom;

The seat and possibly the subframe are
XB-R parts on the preproduction models;

Fairing coverage looks to be well designed- I believe this bike has been wind tunnel tested to a great degree, guts and all

It reminds me more of the slightly roomier tuber frame models, although I'll probably need heli-bar riders or something to help my shoulders-

This bike could easily play the part of a GT sport tourer, with a SHARP sport edge. This Buell will redefine the sport genre, methinks. With a 5.6 gallon range, lots of play time with rice squids.

just how do you expect to put S pegs on this new bike? The brackets on this bike are no were near the same as the xb series.

I saw <all> the new bikes side by side. Unless the specs change going to full production, they will interchange.

Comparing Blake's close ups of the 1125R peg mounting hardware to my XB12R makes them look exactly the same!
