Why wouldn't he/we/they just race the new 1125R? Why another more expensive bike other than just the performance penalty of 75 less cc's than the maximum allowed? I don't think there will be ANY problem making the 1000 motorcycles. HECK, by the time they are in the showrooms I'll bet they have pre-sold a 1000 of them. I just hope they change the 2-cylinder size rules in time for the new bike to run in 2008, but a development year in other classes might provide a lot of great feedback, then they can up the cc's to 1200 for the 2009 model year. | ||

Hard to believe 75 extra cc would be worth the effort, but at that level of competition, it just might be. Of course, I never understood people going to the trouble and expense of installing new jugs and pistons on an XB12 just to get 50 cc for a street bike. | ||

Yup, it qualifies as is. But Ducati will be coming out with a 1200cc version of the 1098 for World Superbike, so why should Buell go in with a displacement deficit? Grab every advantage you can! | ||

I mentioned this on the XBoard earlier today but you could easily bump up the cc's to 1200, add an ohlins suspension and replace a lot of the plastics with carbon fibre and you have a nice race platform. I would guess the cost to be around $20K. | ||

For racing purposes you'd also want to replace the belt drive with a chain drive, simply because it's far easier to alter gearing for specific tracks that way. | ||

And there lies another issue, tho I am sure they already have machined swing-arms to adjust the chain, at that level. would the Homoginized bikes need to be chain drive? that is a must to race to change gearing, tho with a torque curve (?) like they have it may not gain much...... lets wait and see, I know that is not in most Bueller's genetic make up  | ||

75 ccs would be over 6%. In top level racing, lotsa effort is spent on much smaller gains. The bike could be run as an 1125. They're just giving up 6%. -Saro | ||
