oooooh have you seen the new colors for the XB's ;) I dont know about this bike, it seems the antithesis for everything that buell has previously done
air vs water
short wheel base vs looong sport bike
lumpy twin torgue vs high revn geared tuning... But bring it on, I will run it down the local back roads , see if she is still the Busa Beater we all love

I'm going to reserver judgement until I can see one in person.

I don't see the validity of any of the "it looks like a Japanese bike" comments; I don't see that at all. Is any bike with a front fairing and conformal headlights "Japanese" looking? I'd say no. The Japanese bikes have pointy beak-like fairings. The Ducati fairings are narrow, minimalistic. The 1125R fairing is different from anything out there.

On the whole, this thing is unlike any motorcycle I've ever seen. The two separate heat exchanger nacelles immediately call to mind images of the Harrier Jump Jet. Like I've always said, it's darn near impossible to make any heat exchanger look very good. Endowing the 1125R with characteristics that resemble one of the world's most innovative and ground breaking fighter jets can't be a bad thing. The "Hammerhead Harrier"? With a "Dog Bone"? LOL

I don't believe this version of the Buell 1125 stems from rigorous aerodynamics so much as a semi-faired hot-rod street bike design intent. The XBRR fairing and tail section forms are aerodynamically governed forms for sure. Aside from the front fairing, the 1125R looks to be more American hot-rod inspired.

Might we see something quite different when the 1125R hits the track in a serious professional way, maybe a 1200RR Superbike more in line with what Ducati will be releasing? Hmmm... Possibly with a much increased price tag to match? This is all pure speculation, but it sure seems that if the "Buell will be a major force in racing" rumors are true, and if they apply to road racing, then for WSBK would it not seem likely that a 1200cc version will be forthcoming at some point, something with forged or magnesium alloy wheels, Ohlins suspenders, CF bodywork with full fairing and a titanium alloy exhaust? Can you say "355 LB dry weight"? Might adding another 37cc to each cylinder already have been planned?

Buell has done an amazing job bringing the 1125R to fruition. The 375LB dry weight is impressive; that combined with the top notch engine performance characteristics may be enough to overcome any stylistic quirkiness for many. For others, the American hot-rod and/or Harrier Jump Jet stylistic theme may be very appealing. For others, just having something so incredibly different is a huge factor. Or all of the above.

I'm reserving my own personal opinion on the aesthetics of the styling until I can see one in the flesh. : )

I think the 1125r is a great bike from an engineering standpoint. From an aesthetic standpoint, I think it's ugly. I don't think it looks Japanese though. Like Blake said, it doesn't look like any other bike I have ever seen and the frame makes it distinctly Buell. I have to say two things; 1. I am extremely happy that Buell has produced what looks like to be a very competitive racing platform. It is going to be awesome the see a Buell tearing it up in AMA and WSB Superbike hopefully very soon. 2. I'm also happy that I don't care for the looks. Now I don't have an uncontrollable urge to spend 12 grand.

It's not nearly as attractive as the XBR.

Can't see the bike when you're on it anyway.

I am getting flash backs to my old 1997 TL1000S with that front end. I think the under side muffler needs a small fairing. Man that is ugly and I can see that getting really dirty and ugly with in a few miles.

After suggesting back in 2003 for some mirrors with turn signals in them. Buell finally listen. Hope it has a helmet lock some where too. The turn signals are LEDs so that is cool.. Lets hope they are wide enough for normal people..lol

Just wondering if Buell wanted to be so different. Why didnt they put another gear in there. Make it a 7 speed?

I do like how they have finally bolted the motor to the frame and got ride of the rubber motor mounts..

Like the new bigger ZLT from the XBRR brakes up front and in the rear. And they changed the dash to digital finally for the speed..

Like the slipper clutch...

Over all I think Buell is 95% there...Last 5% is the over all look. I think everyone will agree that the bike is great except it is ugly. Magazines are going to trash it in the looks department. Think Buell needs to work the plastic more and make it more flowing for the eyes. Even if it is not good for air flow...

I dig the muffler, especially the blending at the tailpipes and the tailpipes themselves. It's very hot-rod with side-pipes looking.

The 1125R is a muscly looking sport-bike for sure.

If I wanted a bike that looked like a Ducati 916, I'd have bought one 5 years ago.

That's what I think it it looks like too. It's ashame, seems this bike has all the performance every one wanted ,but the styling leaves alot to be desired, actually just the tupperware bowls on the sides.

This picture really shows how blue the frame is. I just really noticed that.

I dunno...it's grown on me on the ride home from Wisconsin. That exhaust is huge, though. It must weigh a ton. I'm with Blake - Buell can do a lot with this bike. In regards to the rear blinkers, they did look aftermarket familiar and tiny. I find it hard to believe they are DOT legal.

I think the big question is this. Can the new fairing be swapped for an older XBR's?
