That is just an incredible price for such a state-of-the-art bike. The makers of Italian exotics must be sweatin'. Well if they're not, they should be. :-)

I have pretty much decided this will be my next bike. At that price why would you not get it??

Priced to move! We will not be undercut!

Seriously, at this price they better have some production capacity ramped up.

Comments like "it may be time to take a look" on the Ducati boards are becoming so common I confess even I am surprised.

This 1125R is looking like it will huge hit in the market.

When one compares the value in the 1125R at 12 grand versus the XB12 at 10.5, it is hard to see who will be buying the 12, or the Ducati or KTM or Aprilia for that matter.

I mean just the suspension upgrades alone are worth twice that difference, not to mention other little details like the frame and that Rotax motor, to mention just one or two.

Perhaps they should offer an "S" model with full Ohlins for the Ducati "big spender" crowd, at around $15,000.

Yeah, Jon you are right... this bike could easily accept upgrades that would push its performance into big-time Exotic territory without breaking the bank. That is a significant point.

2nd important point: This bike also demonstrates clearly the engineering prowess still resident in an American company.

3rd important point: This bike demonstrates for all to see the true independence of Buell from the H-D mothership.

This bike says a lot of important things, doesn't it?

4th important point: This bike demonstrates that Buell was thinking of ME riding with my friends on liter bikes that would pass me after catching up after a good spanking in the corners.

Mmmnn. 6th gear and 146 ponies.

Here's a price comparison with other 2007/2008 bikes that generally fit into the 1125R's category, either by function or size. All prices are in US$$ and are MSRP. I included one sport 600 as a comparison:

Honda:
CBR1000RR...........11,499
RC51(2006)................11,999
Interceptor..........10,599

Suzuki:
Hayabusa............11,999
GSX-R1000.............11,399
GSX-R750..............10,199
SV1000S..............8,699

Yamaha:
R1.................11,699
FZ1................9,199

Kawasaki:
ZX-14................11,599
ZX-10R................11,249
ZX-6R.................8,999
Z1000.................8,649

I couldn't find any pricing info on Ducati and Aprilia's websites.

Thanks Barker.

It is just a bit odd though.

The XB 12 S is $10,499

The XB 12 R is $9,999.

I can't figure out if this is marketing Genius at work, or a typo.

In any event, it looks like marketing and I agree Ten Five is too much for a 12R when an 1125 R is Twelve.

I could see why they would want make a gap between the 12R and 1125R, and make the 12R a better value. But,,,

Why still sell the 12S @ 10,500. Makes it appear as not as good a value with the new 12R price point.

Mark my words,,, Its the last year of the Firebolt. 12R is only available in US this year just like the 9R last year.
