just for comparison.... (and we dotn know much about these yet, but just for fun)
and yes, the buell is 1125 vs 1000, but still, its not a huge difference, and the comparison bike is bad as hell so i think its great to use

08 buell 1125R..........06 honda rc51
146hp.........................133hp
84ft/lbs tq...................71ft/lbs tq
54.5" wheelbase................55.9" wheelbase

dont know weight of the buell yet, but everyone thinks so highly of the rc51 (as do i), and this is very similar but with more power and shorter wheelbase

now im just waiting to hear pricing, im so stoked on this new bike!: )

Or how about a comparison to the Ducati 1098?

1125R......................1098 (base model)

146hp......................160hp
84 ft/lbs tq..........90.4 ft/lbs tq
54.5" wheel b.......56.3" wheel base
47mm front............43mm front suspension
??............................381 lb. dry weight

Does anybody know how much HP the 1098 puts to the ground?

Based on the efficiences of current XB models, I'd guess the 1125R is getting around mid 130s at the rear wheel. I'd also bet that it's lighter.

You can bet the motorcycle rags are going to be putting the 1125R and the 1098 against each other for comparison tests. I wonder which comes out ahead? I also believe most of the cycle mags are biased towards Ducatis.

Interesting comparison between the 1125 and the RC51. I'm considering selling my 9R to get a used RC. That was before the 1125R, of course.

If they are measuring the 1125R like they did with the RR... then the 1125 is at the wheel... and that would be awesome! That is what I am thinking right now... and hoping too!

Van,

The Duc 1098 wet weight is how much? Source for that? Sounds low to me. Dyno results I saw had the 1098 putting down around 135 RWHP.

My bet is that within the next 60 days you'll be seeing so many compro tests you'll be begging them to stop.

Regardless of bias, I'm confident Buell is going to enter the comparison quite well armed and prepared.

I can't wait.

Besides. . . it'll keep you guys away from my Ulysses!

Blake, I got the figures directly from Ducati's website. Now, we all know how manufacturers fudge the figures a bit, especially when it comes to the wet weight of their bikes. I'm guessing the 1098 weighs a bit more than stated. I'm sure Buell might be a bit guilty of this at times, as well.

OOps- my bad! That's the DRY weight of the 1098!!!

So here is my guess from all the hints I have been reading. The '08 Uly will have the new frame (there go those fuel complaints), the new engine (air-cooled version of course), 6-speeed (with that lower first gear everyone has been begging for), yep, I think it'll be pretty sweet. I hope I am accurate, because then that may be THE bike to replace my CityX with, well a couple years from now, of course (after Court gets his.

honda rc51 was fun for 4 years but my new buell rocks baby. The fuel injection is way better and you can throw it side to side much easier, just more technology the rc was last updated in 2002 and it shows the buell is my new baby
