I wish they would quit screwing around and get out of the way. We need a list of their parts suppliers.

Whoever is doing their Facebook has indicated the following:
“We are still an operational business. Licensed EPA & CARB 2018 & We actually just finished our 2019 application to EPA.”
I thought they got rid of all production equipment....

I think the production equipment mostly consisted of carts and similar equipment to make mass production efficient. All the components are provided by outside suppliers. If they were to only build limited quantities of new bikes, they may not need that stuff, at least not at first.

As good as it is, if they are still pushing the SX and RX then I doubt things will go any different.

If EBR does make a comeback and if they build a Black Lightning, I'll go nuts trying to figure out how to come up with the money to buy one. And if I do figure out how buy one, I'll go nuts trying to figure out how to mount Hepco & Becker Junior bags to it. And if I do get that hurdle jumped, I'll go nuts trying to come up with the money to ride it to Tuktoyaktuk. It probably helps that I'm nuts already.

For me, it would be a dream come true to ride a bike like that to the Arctic Ocean.

However, having raised my hopes each time there's been a comeback, I don't think it'll happen; as much as I'd like it to.

Crusty, that's a lof of "ifs"....but sadly, I'm right there with ya. I want to believe, I just am not sure I can confidently do so.

Court,
I wish I knew what you knew when you mention what's in their cards....

Erik mentioned a medium weight new bike several times, and Steve Anderson provided additional details in a couple of posts here. Sounds like it would be a competitor to the KTM 790 Duke and Yamaha FZ-09.

According to a quote attributed to Erik in Cycle World a few years ago it was nearly ready for production prior to the first shut down in 2015.

My only insight to what might have been, and could still be, was when I picked up the DDB bike from the auction. The rep from LAP referenced a boxful of starters as, "for a bike we never produced". It made me wonder why you would need an entire box of EBR part numbered starters if you were just evaluating them for a future model. An outside possibility could be the short run of 250cc Hero bikes mentioned by an anonymous insider posting earlier on these forums. Another possibility could be there actually might be a fair amount of inventory for a limited run of an as yet unreleased EBR bike. That would explain why truckloads of stuff went to Michigan, ostensibly to support the roughly only 1300 bikes built.
Fingers crossed, but I doubt Erik would be a part of a re release. He seems to have shifted his focus on to the next corner.

Oh and Crusty, the 1190SCG is listed on their 2018 CARB certificate.......

Id love to see a middle weight bike to compete with the FZ09 etc
Something more upright position, some power but not insane, and similar price point.

They release it right now I'd sign up (depending on style, though Ive loved everything so far Buell/EBR has done minus the Hero transformers looking ones).

But Im not holding my breath on it.

The latest news from LAP!

Yeah I gotta admit, it's kinda like a Rickroll... It's just the latest LAP liquidation auction of some 'Famous' motorcycle business...

Seriously what does LAP (who owns the EBR brand) know about what H-D is going to do with the Buell brand (which, if anyone remembers, is owned by H-D)?

I'd guess both the questioner and the responder made the common mistake of considering Buell and EBR to be the same company.

^ I saw that this weekend. Somebody responded that "Operation 35" referred to the first atomic bomb that was dropped. That's the only guess I've even seen.

If so, that could be extremely promising. Hope springs eternal.

Very few people purchased EBR RX/SX bikes at full price.
People jumped on board when prices were drastically reduced, what will be different this time if in fact EBR starts production again?
The majority on this board do not seem to want a sportbike and clamor for a Uly replacement or sub 1000cc offering.
Unless EBR goes on an entirely different route and has secured a lot of operating capital I unfortunately do not see much hope in a resurrection.

The one promising EBR design that never saw the light of day was their middle weight new bike. Shortly after the original closure in 2016 (?), Erik was quoted in Cycle World as saying this bike was months away from being ready for production. LAP hinted this bike would be shown at the motorcycle shows in early 2017, but they shut down motorcycle production before that happened and didn't go to the two winter 2017 shows.

Steve Anderson has provided very interesting details about the bike here in several posts. It would be similar in size and power to the KTM Duke 800 but likely better on both counts.

A bike like that might have what it would take to revive the company, but it would have some major hurdles to cross. It would have to get insanely great reviews, the price would have to be right, and the dealership network would have to be rebuilt from scratch, a gargantuan task given their history.

IIRC, LAP posted on Facebook that they have renewed the EPA and DOT certifications for EBR for next year, so they can theoretically, at least from a legal standpoint, go back into production any time they chose. All it would take is the will to do it and a cubic crap ton of dollars.

So whats the difference between a legitimate manufacturer that goes through the hoops of EPA and DOT certification to make not very many, but awesome bikes...

and one that slaps together 1000's of cruisers with chinese metal frames and S&S crate motors? Looking at you OCC...they have their own title, not even with 'special construction' tags?

I'm an enquiring mind and I want to know!: )

IF they tried to come back, how many would avoid them based on the past 8 years of hardships?
Two shutdowns will remain in people's minds

Not just customers, but dealers too

Sorry to sound a pessimist here. But if EBR couldn't be successful building 1190cc premium price "super bikes", how on earth can anyone expect them to be successful building commodity 800cc class machines? Myself, I would hate to have them to "do a Benelli" and build "Italian" bikes in China. Now way would I buy an EBR or a Buell built that way.
