"EBR CANNOT sell direct to a customer it is ILLEGAL for a manufacturer to sell directly to a customer. By law there has to be a dealer in the transaction. "

Not trying to argue with you, but that is not necessarily a all encompassing true statement....

Even in the FTC article you linked too, it says "state prohibitions against direct consumer auto sales by manufacturers"

Not federal...

It wouldn't be hard at all to get a "third party" dealer that could be licensed in the problem states.

That seems like a little speed bump, not a road block.

Then let it die again. Better start thinking outside the box or move on to some other business. I started losing interest after the Tubers(I still have two). The 1125R was a great 2nd attempt but Buell wasn't ready. EBR priced themselves out of the market. Better get creative or LAP just torched a bunch of money for nothing. Sorry, it is what it is.

Truth.

Actually what LAP paid for EBR is peanuts. If they sell 200 of the 300 bikes they have siting around they will make their money back and that does not even consider all the parts and other stuff they are also selling right now.

If EBR does decide to listen to what some of you are saying and tries to sell direct to consumers I wish them luck as I see that as a total disaster for so many reasons.

It seems a lot of you have a real beef with dealers but they are the ones who do most of the legwork to sell the bikes. If it was easy the new EBR would not be having any issues signing up dealers IMO.

Looks like the new EBR does not have any intentions of having the demo truck at events, dealers and such anymore:

^^^
Why would you make that assumption? A race rig is not necessary as a demo truck.

They did respond to a question about the truck on Facebook and said they had a smaller truck that was ample for what the future race team would require; I don't think they addressed demos.

Pretty sure that was the big demo truck not the race team. I don't believe there was ever a factory EBR race team in the US, only the WSBK team which DID NOT use that truck. Yes they did have a smaller demo rig that Cory West took around but that is not what I was talking about.

I did see that truck being used as the demo truck in the past. In fact I was actually scheduled to have that semi demo truck come to my shop last July before the closure.

You can even see in the pictures that there are demo bikes out in front, not race bikes.

But I could be wrong.

Right now the bids are at average car prices for that rig. Too bad the buy it now is 160K or someone could have the ultimate mobile buell garage mahal for cheap. "Hello Tiny House Nation...." lol

Getting that rig as part of the company was a good hit. I'm only surprised it has taken them this long to try to sell it. It's worth a good chuck of change, and useless to them at this point.

That rig was the EBR US factory race trailer for AMA before it became, by default, the demo truck toward the last year or so they were in business after Cory was running as part of Larry Pegram's team.
It's an old tractor with a lot of miles on it that had all kinds of problems, which were eventually sorted out.

They could absolutely do a demo tour with something smaller and more cost effective.

Saw that rig at Daytona, they were trying to get away with running it on RV plates! It's 20+ years old and just plain worn out for nationwide travel. And when your whole model line is just 2 or 3 models, a full size van with a canopy or three will do the job just as well on a third the fuel= The old Freightshaker and big trailer is surplus!

Here's a shrewd marketing move / example

Chevy Will Honor Your Warranty If You Track Your New Camaro.

Food for thought...

I agree that the semi rig is overkill for what the company is now. I was just making an observation that they do not plan to use it anymore for bringing the demo fleet around to dealers like they used to.

Not sure why some of you are getting all defensive about that?

But I do have a question... When did EBRs run in AMA? I thought the last AMA team was running 1125 Buells? Did I miss a year or 2 when EBRs were running 1190s??

Eslick and May competed in AMA Super bike on 1190RS's in 2012, maybe another year before or after.

That may jog your memory of the season.

Well it is with a sad heart I have to report that NRHS will not be a dealer for the new EBR.

I hope they are able to find a new dealer in the CO area. I know it took them 3 years before we signed on. Hopefully it won't take that long this time.

This response to a customer inquiry about dealers was posted to ADVrider today:

quote:

We have started production and will soon be shipping, however the initial dealer and distribution network for the new EBR motorcycles is not yet fully established. Since the company is new, it is necessary that we get all agreement paperwork completed with each new dealer/distributor, as well as registering as a manufacturer in each state or country. This takes varying amounts of time depending on each government’s regulations, and on the workload at the agencies. We can’t legally announce dealers/distributors until all paperwork is complete.

The response from riders to the launch of the new EBR is just amazing. The EBR team are working hard to quickly establish quality representation around the world, and to get these great motorcycles into enthusiasts’ hands through dealerships who are as passionate as we are! We will keep you updated on progress, and definitely let you know as soon as we can as to who will be selling EBR’s closest to you. We do know that there is an excellent dealer in Indiana already signed, but we are waiting for state paperwork to come through.

Sincerely,
EBR Motorcycles Customer Support

So apparently they have a dealer in Indiana lined up if not yet official.
