This is tragic! They've come so far. Is there any shred of hope left? |

The dealers have no idea right now. We were not told about any of this and I found out here on Badweb just like most of you. |

Watching Cory do great in China and Canepa doing a record at Jennings just so conflicted with the struggle for WSB. The failure to get relevant parts to the WSB racers revealed huge cracks in the walls of EBR. The whole scene became gut wrenching for me to watch. Furthermore, wanting an 1190RX but not wanting the lack of dealer support, simply added to the gut crunching. This is like throwing up after a really good (or bad) night of wanton drinking. It is over!!! For now I can eschew the TV and EBR racing for another project that is well within MY control. I literally fall to my knees to pray for the employees. God be with them all. For that, I can say no greater words. The Buells in the garage will continue their service at a great HD dealership. There is a vacuum and I look forward to see what fills that vacuum..... and the current vacuum REALLY SUCKS. |

I'm shocked and saddend by the news, but I hold out hope that Polaris may want to get into the sportbike business. It's turnkey and ready to go and EBR is only underwater 20 million( not a lot for the likes of Polaris). They brought back Indian and it was dead and gone for something like 70 years. Lets hope for the best. |

I hope this doesn't leave all the dealerships in a financial bind. I can see where trust might be the biggest victim in this. |

I'll take the blame. I am a jinx. I have only owned a Triumph and Buells. Almost the whole time I owned my 63 Triumph they were struggling to reopen then I sold and purchased as series buells. Any suggestions on who I should put out of business. FYI, I am also a mopar guy. See what I mean. |

Phw and Reep, add me to that list. Happy Mercury owner here. Toomany, Polaris isn't looking to clean up someone else's mess, not sure them reviving the Indian brand is comparable to this. Polaris makes smart moves, it doesn't look like the boutique sport bike biz is a smart move right now. Ducati is the only one seriously contending in that market and they are: a. backed by the Italian government (too big to fail) b. diversifying |

All true. Very wishful thinking on my part. But I will continue to hold out for some kind of miracle. Where are the Elves of song and story?? No car curse here, I have a Toyota. Cheers. |

Erik Buell Thank you for the supportive posts, texts, and e-mails since the announcement that EBR has ceased operations. This is a difficult time, and your comments mean a great deal to me personally and also to the EBR team that has done such amazing work over the past few, intense years. No doubt, it was an incredible ride, feeling like the longest qualifying lap ever. And, then, just when we knew we were about to set an all-time record, we tossed it in the last corner… Keeping with racing analogies, now we need to get back on the track and look ahead remembering all the things we were doing right around so many turns. Unfortunately, in the end, we tried to do too much with too little funding, but it doesn't diminish the accomplishments. We introduced the world class American super bikes of 1190RS, 1190RX and 1190SX, while at the same time doing revolutionary work for Hero on the HX250R, Leap, SimplEcity, iON, RnT and many others, plus concepts never publicly seen. It was great EBR innovation and design, and introduced new technology to Hero and its suppliers to provide a real kick start for them. But in the end all of this simply overwhelmed us, and for that we are sorry and saddened. I want you to know that looking ahead my focus is 100% on helping the receiver best maximize the value from EBR to benefit all, and I will make every possible effort to get the new organization to where it can support the dealers and customers first, and then help find investment to get back to full throttle. Thank you for your support, it means a great deal. Please stay tuned - I cannot predict the future, but always believe the best is yet to come. EZ |

Erik now has a partner in grief, in Italy. I am down about EBR in such a tight spot and pray the best. The 'Screw The Little Company VIRUS' is spreading. I will never put my dollars into another DUCATI or an AUDI. Read the following screw job on a tiny company, single cylinder 500cc manufacturer. Hit the translate button and read it all, then puke. http://borile.it/newsletter/?lang=en I started my first ride on a Ducati in 1968 and have revered them BUT NOT NOW. It is a POS company and off my list forever. If you own one, bless you. The company is now smelling like a dead fish. Ducati knew these Borile MC folks, new the name of their coming bike, sold them the engines, posed for snapshots at the reveal and then sued Borile for a type of brand infringement. Bless you Erik and your buddies across the pond. Ducati/Audi |

Check out the latest:
quote:Insiders say that Hero has not paid EBR about $20 million owed for engineering and design work EBR did on 13 new Hero models for the Indian market. EBR bore the expense of the engineering and design work, then ran out of operating capital while waiting to be paid for that work, those insiders said.

The "No further comment" from Erik is probably the most damning part of that article relative to Hero. The Hero folks I met seemed like nice guys, but that doesn't mean the Hero company didn't stiff EBR. |
