It's amazing how long the little stuff takes. I don't have a lot of spare time, but I had a knackered engine rebuilt and running in a couple weekends, no sweat. Then I spent 3 months fabricating a seat pan and seat, and am going on another 3 months creating my custom wiring harness that will work with all the odd bits I have picked up to graft on (different gauge cluster, get estart working again, etc).

Next would be stripping everything down for paint and re-assembling. For now I'm going to keep it rat-bike patina'd.

The really great thing Bill is you are doing it all yourself, as I did also, even the painting. Kind of like someone else I know named Erik. 'Nuf said. Well done my friend.

And thanks again for the speedometer V. limiter you made me back a while when I had my 2002 M2. Worked fine until I sold her. Probably still is somewhere.

It is really revealing to have to solve all those problems, even on a bike that was working well from the factory. Little stuff like how do I make a reliable electrical connection? How do I identify it? What do I do with the ratsnest behind the headlight? How do I mount the battery so it won't short out or get damaged?

Some solutions just pop right out. Others I have to think about and keep retrying. It's a fun puzzle.

Glad the filter worked out! Those were fun days.

All the Hero current models are Honda East models, which are basically ancient, but bulletproof. They used to be "Hero-Honda".

I LOVED the Cleveland bikes, right up until I found out they are "designed in the US", and built in China. With Chinese parts.

Funniest thing I ever saw was a Caterpillar 140 ton truck with the words Made in India cast in to the rear support. You could stand behind the truck look up and the cast letters were about 12" tall....lol. It didnt take long for Caterpillar to start grinding those letters off the castings. The letters are no longer cast into any of the parts now.

No worries Fuzz. Just go buy the 49% from Hero, and give it back to EBR as a gift.

Reepicheep, I would if I could...It makes me sick to think what damage those folks could do if they end up with controlling interest. Color me jaded if you wish, but I just don't trust them.

That's the rub.

On the upside, the one thing we learned from round 1 is that 49.9 percent is a million miles from 51.1 percent.

And in working with Indians day in and day out, as annoying to me as they were originally (and I no doubt was even more annoying to them), they are really starting to grow on me. Those boys earn their money, and they have a great sense of perspective.
